This article analyzes the effect this can have on how the class should be taught, and how calculators put students at advantages and disadvantages depending on how they are used, and how students with more computing power excelled or failed compared to those with the less powerful model of calculator.

The point of this article was to talk about how crazy it is that people can be influenced so greatly by Oprah. It is helpful to me with my paper because it shows how much of a powerful person Oprah is and it cannot be denied! She is undeniably the most influential person on TV.

In his new book, "Work Hard. Be Nice.", Jay Mathews claims that the Knowledge Is Power Program is the "best" program serving severely disadvantaged, minority-group students in America today.

This article recounts a librarians experience during a blackout when students needed to perform research without power. It shows how dependent students are of the internet and have no idea how to use the library as a source. It shows how students depend on the internet and Google to do their research and have very little library knowledge.

This article shows another side of what Oprah is doing with her power. She had been so successful in making adult books popular and famous so she created a Kids list for books as well. This list is just as popular and the amount of people buying these books is still unbelievable. The article goes into again how easily Oprah can make people buy and read something. It will be helpful to me in my paper because it shows how Oprah is not just influential in one area of reading but all different age groups as well.

This article goes into how powerful Oprah's book club has been on the sales of books over the years. It will be helpful because of the statistics that it includes. The authors give a lot of credit to Oprah and this shows me how influential she really has been.

This article talks about the new electronic Kindle and how Oprah "boosts" it on her show. She talked about how much she loved the gadget and had a representative from Amazon come and talk about it. This article will be useful to me because it shows her diverse ways in which she promotes reading. She has been very succesful with her book club and encouraging people to read the books she has found and now she promotes the Kindle as well. Oprah will prove to be powerful in this area pertaining to reading as well. She is all about encouraging America to love reading.

College students today face a difficult time with easy access to a credit card and a lack of financial literacy. The authors' study concluded that the average college student is currently accumulating debt at an increasing rate. They believe the allure and purchasing power of a credit card causes some young adults to forgo their own inhibitions and just spend. This study provides an excellent source of quantitative information in the form of survey responses and charts. The authors break down their survey group into many categories, such as age and sex, to examine debt. The plethora of data allows correlations to be made and therefore a better understanding of college student credit card debt. However, the sample size was only 448 students on five college campuses, and in the future, a larger sample size could provide a more detailed and accurate analysis.

The authors discuss how college students' overreliance on credit cards and accumulated student loans have left many graduates with outstanding debt and poor credit scores. Credit card companies aggressively solicit college students, who are enticed by the power a credit card grants. Upon graduation, students with large sums of debt may find it difficult to find a job or rent property due to poor credit. To counter this surge of irresponsibility, the authors propose colleges create programs to educate students on how to use a credit card responsibly. The problem with creating more programs is universities must spend extra funds to create and maintain such an initiative. The authors fail to propose an early education curriculum for younger children to immerse them in the area of personal finance.

The article offers views on the debate over the legalization of marijuana for medical uses in the U.S. It says that the issue over marijuana access to medical treatment rests solely upon the power between states and the federal government. People have challenged the states for legalization of medical marijuana. This is another article that challenges the states in their medical marijuana reform laws. Men and women throughout the US challenge states authority over medical marijuana legalization. This debacle creates uproars and give me evidence of peoples push for reform laws and a changing society.

This essay is an overview of the theoretical, methodological, pedagogical, ideological, and power-related issues of world Englishes: varieties of English used in diverse sociolinguistic contexts. The scholars in this field have critically examined theoretical and methodological frameworks of language use based on western, essentially monolingual and monocultural, frameworks of linguistic science and replaced them with frameworks that are faithful to multilingualism and language variation. This conceptual shift affords a "pluricentric" view of English, which represents diverse sociolinguistic histories, multicultural identities, multiple norms of use and acquisition, and distinct contexts of function. The implications of this shift for learning and teaching world Englishes are critically reviewed in the final sections of this essay.

The teams are made up of literacy coaches and classroom teachers. The classroom teachers tell the literacy coach what the student needs help with. The two work on a team together to teach children how to read and write.

This article shows another example of how Oprah has had huge influence over what America is reading. Two new authors like Jacquelyn Mitchard and Wally Lamb, were made famous because of Oprah. Mitchard's book went from 100,000 sales to 900,000 when Oprah talked about it on her show. The new authors are very appreciative and surprised at the effect that Oprah has had on their careers. This is helpful because it gives another view of why she is successful in controlling what our country is reading. She has made nobody authors into successful and famous just by talking about their book on her show.
