Found this to be useful. However many plug-ins require your own hosting account.
  •
Similar to the other site I shared, this provides plugins, not just tips. It is also organized into easy to ready categories and provides plenty of links!

I found pretty good ideas here. Which I am already doing such as participating in other blogs but not as frequently as I should be. Also, inviting people into my blog might help to raise its popularity. Also, uploading a video or something that can be heard or appreciated with you eyes might help as well.

This resource has a huge amount of information and links to help with blogging. I don't know specifically what you can and cannot do in WordPress, so i am not sure how much is relevant. It all seems to be pretty universal from what i read so this should help.

This website is a blogging resource specific to WordPress. That will certainly be a good resource. There are many others out there that may not pertain to WordPress. With this class I am brand new to blogging to this should help me.

I picked this website for its design elements of Alignment. As it turns out this is a website for a website design firm. The grid format with two main columns is nice and the graphic in the center is great. In the text of the two columns they chose to use Flush Left justification. I think that with the graphic they may have been better off using Runaround. They are the professionals so maybe they know better.

D#4, HW#1 - Principles Of Good Design: Balance » SitePoint - 0 views

  • Balance can also be achieved when one heavier person sits on one side and two lighter people site on the other side
  • In design we try to achieve a balance between elements because it is pleasing on the eye
  • Symmetrical balance is mirror image balance
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • on this web site, the mobile phone image divides the page in two, with the blocks of text on either side balancing each other out
  • The red text above and below the title is balanced in color and size above and below the title
  • We can create an asymmetrically balanced layout by placing several small items on one side, and one large item on the other side
  •
Shows examples of balance in different layouts. Demonstrates symmetry and asymmetry.

Once again I am choosing to post a visual depiction because sometimes in design you just have to see it. I liked this website because it not only touched on the aspects of symetrical and asymetrical that were talked about in chapter 4 but also several other forms of balance as a design principal.

A website that has Balance. Good use of outlined frames and balances well. The positioning of the frames, some in front of others helps to achieve the balance. Having the title frame out in front helps balance the smaller frames on the left with the larger one on the right.

The pictures have very good contrast with black, white, and red in one picture, and the white on the dark part of the shadows that says "Queen" in the other picture. All of them show good contrast in colors some more obvious than others.
  •
This magazine has a lot of really neat examples of contrast like the ones that were touched on in chapter three. There is a lot of black and white used in the pictures and light and dark shades. the titles of the names are in very contrasting colors such as red on black and white, or white on darker colors. This seems like a very cool magazine for artists and designers to look through.
