This stuff is really hard for me to understand. This is a definition to help if others are struggling.

This website gives an explanation about remediation and new media.  It also gives an explanation of how remediation is defined by predecessors like the television, radio and or old media like journals.  Media can interact with other kind of media by reproducing and replacing and making other changes.

I like how this article explains what remediation is and new media. This article talks about the double logic of remediation which are the process of remediation, remediation and reality, redmediation as reform.

Here is an article from "learn to do it right" about improving the readability of your webpage design. This article takes into account that onscreen reading is up to 25% slower then print reading which was something I hadn't heard before. One thing this article stresses is the use of left aligned text to increase your webpages scanability.

This page has it all! Aside from just telling an explaining what we can do it provides screenshots so we get an idea of the "trick" to see is we might want it. This offers help anywhere from blog rolls to navigation to addding sideshows and tabs to your page. VERY resourceful.

This article is good because it provides tutorials on how to improve your blog.  For example, there are descent free magazines themes or you can build your own.  Also it gives techniques for seo and plug ins.  

This is the best article I've found for this topic. It discusses new media in relation to Manovich's article AND actually interrelates Flew's virtual communities article too! I thought that was pretty cool. It also gives examples of what new media is, and how it is affecting our communities through globalization and social change

I really like this article because it explains the design process in an easy way that anyone can understand. I like how the article breaks the process into steps and how it uses bullets and lists to make reading and understanding the content of the article easier. 

This webpage demonstrates balance in order to create a visually pleasing aesthetic for the reader. The information that talks about the article is centered aligned. If one were to remove the ads and links to other articles it would send this page out of balance. However,the links and ads add a symmetric balance to the page, which gives a more educational and formal feel to the article. 

I liked this article the best because it was short, simple, and straight to the point. It covers all the main points of balance and symmetry. It describes symmetrical balance, radial symmetry, exact, axial, and asymmetrical balance. Two new terms this article presented were approximate symmetry and occult. Approximate symmetry is an overall balance of color, objects, font size, ect. Occult is when the background is the dominant feature of the design. The article gives 3 art radial designs and an art picture of exact symmetry

I really liked this page, like the last one I posted for contrast this website goes into detail about each kind of balance and gives a picture example of each. It makes it really easy to understand seeing a web page picture or ad, which is what we mostly work with so it makes it easier to understand by showing pictures we relate to.

Here is another article about balance in web design! This article is more focused on designing for your audience. It defines the types of balance as: horizontal, vertical, radial, symmetrical and asymmetrical. Each type of balance has examples from the web accompanied by a short description of how balance is achieved in each unique way. The article goes into the properties of balance as well, and has examples from the web to help define them.

This article lists a few additional differences between old and new media than Manovich did and gives a different perspective on new media. The article is very helpful in understanding Manovich's article. 

This website gives us 25 cool ways to put emphasis in our blogs. It also leads you to a link where Patrick (author) wrote an article on developing emphasis in web design.

Here is an article on emphasis used in webdesign. It has 25 different examples of emphasis used in various webpages and it explains how it is used in each example as well. If you are into web design its a pretty interesting article.

D#6, HW#6-- I really enjoyed this website for many different reasons. Firstly, for the way t is set up. It is easy to read and enjoyable. They have a main bullet point to look at, and then list and shortly describe different aspects of that bullet point. Also, it covers just about every aspect from design, to performance, to even security. It has a lot of great information!

I like this article because it gives an endless amount of possibilities on how to improve your blog. This article features ideas that will suit any blog. 

Gives good description and examples of the concept of Visual Hierarchy in Web Design and discusses its importance. Also has an exercise to do to test visual hierarchy when you come across a website.

Informative post about how the human brain registers hierarchy naturally and techniques that can be used to achieve effective visual hierarchy in web desgin. The site offers examples of each method: size, color, contrast, alignment, repetition, proximity, density and whitespace, and finally style and texture. I particularly like this quote: "Good visual hierarchy isn't about wild and crazy graphics or the newest photoshop filters, it's about organizing information in a way that's usable, accessible, and logical to the everyday site visitor."

Here is an article on visual hierarchy in reference to web design. Along with the list of ways visual hierarchies can be formed visual examples are given as well. This article even goes in the psychology behind visual hierarchy and why its necessary for designers when creating.

This article, on the othe other hand, discusses the end of many newspapers due to the current choices of communcation that isn't bringing profit to the mainstream media. Everything that the newspaper provides is available on the internet all the time. This article also discusses the decline of traditional media as well. Television is declining due viewers turning to online resources that is available at all time to the viewer's convience. Another traditional media is the declining of radio.

The purpose of project 1 is to design a comic tutorial about a web base networking site. Business writing will help communicate the purpose and goal of the document to your readers. This article will assist me in writing clear, organized, strategic instructions on how to use the networking site. This is my favorite article.

This is a good article about the norms on a team work.  Each member of the team has to be committed to do their own part and pay attention to the content.  This article also includes how member should interact and it provides guidelines for the group to follow.

This article provides an additional perspective of the "media revolution."  In its ability to transmit knowledge, a medium is a catalyst to open up new possibilities and perspectives to its audience. The media revolution took place when digitalization became a global and universal process. It is also described here as "irreversible;" it involves a great deal of change at the economic, social, political, and cultural levels of a society. This article also covers the process of shifting into a more computerized state; the first stage, for example, involves adapting traditional tasks from the old medium to the new. From there, the people speculate about the future.

Here is an article from template monster that discuses the different types of grids used in web design. The article defines each type of grid as well as showing multiple examples from the web where each particular grid structure was used.

Here is an article about alignment in web design. It goes into detail about the meaning of alignment and even some history about it. This article contains a lot of helpful advice if your looking for ways to improve your alignment while designing for the web.

This article is about the Design Process. There are steps you should follow in order to achieve the best results. This article outlines those steps and explains them. The steps are: Gather Information, Create and Outline, Harness your creativity, Sketch and Wireframe, Design multiple versions and revise.

This is a very clear and informative article about how digital images are developed and where the pixel comes into play. It simplifies the terminology so it is easy to understand. This article relates very well with several of Manovich's principles of new media.
