A key journal in the uses of leaning technologies in Higher and further education

This study produced a number of papers, of which the most widely referenced in Mayes and de Freitas' study of relevant theories, frameworks and models. This concluded that existing models can be broadly classified as associative, constructive, or situative; that underlying principles of learning remain much the same regardless of the technologies incorporated into the learning situation; but that cosideration of the technologies available for use is now an essential aspect of educational planning, and constructively aligning the learning situation with the desired outcomes.

Warwick University - Evaluation Cookbook LTDI Gives descriptions of methods that can be used to evaluate the use of learning technology in higher education. Includes"recipes" for different evaluation methods and useful information for planning, running and reporting on your evaluation. .

Neil, thank you for sharing this resource. I am sure that other participants will find it useful in their studies. For me and having in mind my background I can see movement to "Data-Driven Learning and Assessment" and "Learning Analytics" as something happening in Aviation Safety already. There the intention is to be as proactive and hopefully predictive as possible. How about here?

A short but long-sighted, wider perspective on how we view technology, how 'ordinary' it becomes, how challenging it can seem to current ways of being etc... All with DA's usual wit!

This report has been developed as part of our research project Flexible Pedagogies: preparing for the future. Technology-enhanced learning is one of five main focus strands embedded within the theme of flexible learning. It offers a summary and analysis of the current state of play, as well as recommendations for developing robust and appropriate flexible pedagogies with a view to influencing policy, future thinking and change within the rapidly-shifting landscape of learning and teaching in HE.

Interesting! As are a number of the papers suggested afterwards which I will bookmark too! As an aside you may be interested in the paper Cass Business School students present to the Moodle Research Conference last year: http://research.moodle.net/mod/data/view.php?d=7&rid=124 One point of interest I'm keen to follow is the possible rise in more student-led studies (at City?) - in this case, both surveying students and by students. I'm also interested in how we could look more at involving learners in the design process.
