AJET 25(3) McGarr (2009) - A review of podcasting in higher education: Its influence on... - 2 views

Evans (2008) argues that the increasing demands on modern learners' time means that they are often forced to study when the opportunity arises, this may be on the bus, train or car, at evening or weekends or during lunch breaks. These demands bring with them the need for portable technologies that enable them to transport their learning materials to access when they can. This 'mobile learning', or m-learning for short, is used widely in distance learning programs because of the relative ease in which the digital resources can be produced (Bongey, Cizadlo & Kalnbach, 2006) and because they facilitate the needs of the learner and enhance their learning experience;

    Neil, thank you for sharing this resource. I am sure that other participants will find it useful in their studies. For me and having in mind my background I can see movement to "Data-Driven Learning and Assessment" and "Learning Analytics" as something happening in Aviation Safety already. Liz Coleman: A call to reinvent liberal arts education | Talk Video | TED.com - 0 views

  •
    Coleman's idea is that higher education is an active pursuit -- a performing art. Her vision calls for lots of one-on-one interactions between professor and student, deep engagement with primary sources, highly individual majors, and the destruction of the traditional academic department. It's a lofty goal that takes plenty of hard work to keep on course.
