When you join an organization which stands for such values as a countries military does you are accepting the responsibility of acting appropriate to the military's code. By posting those sexual photos the soldiers are portraying a code of conduct which doesn't follow proper military guide lines. It is bad for the military's look when highly trained soldiers are acting inappropriately on a social network. The morals of the military comes into questioning when their trained soldiers arn't expressing military behavior.

I believe it's the school newspapers job to publish news, no matter good or bad its the duty of reporting news that gives the right to publish serious topics like this. As horrible as the incident was publishing an article on it can have many benefits to the situation such as making a big point to the community on safety. Also the community can pay respects to the victims and their families the right way and show compassion towards the horrific incident.

I feel that this day of age our communities are more open about this specific topic, so i believe schools can make a point on supporting the gay community. Especially in High School, students that aren't sure of their sexuality should feel comfortable in their society on whatever they decide on. Many argue that gay people are born that way, but even so why not create an environment where their decision wont be swayed or judged heavily. Tam is already making a big effort to opening up our community to these ideas through the GSA club, so i feel positive feelings would come out of it.

Dress Codes Are Sexist & Homophobic - 45 views

A dress code should be implemented under the motives of keeping students dressing appropriately, there are some flaws in this system, but it's intentions are pure. I feel to describe the way females dress as distracting is not right it should be that they are not meeting the school dress code. The dress code is there to keep a school as a place for formal education. The message that women should manage their clothes to not distract men is very sexist as why not the other way around? Students should dress for occasion at school and follow the dress code only as a part of following school law.

I think the regulation restriction speaks for itself, no matter what the age limit teenagers will find a way to get the product. It's the same way they get drugs and alcohol, changing the age limit wont be affective instead money needs to be put into educating teenagers on use of the products.

Guns in Class for Teachers - 71 views

The core idea that South Dakota has is right, in a sense that security should be increased in schools to protect the well being of it's students. I believe that only certain should be allowed the responsibility to carry a gun. Before we allow teachers to hold guns in school, they should definitely be put through law enforcement training but also be put through mental and psychological tests. In order to ensure safety the local government must make sure that teachers capable of holding a gun should be mentally alright. If more procedures arn't taken before arming school teachers then we would just be arming irresponsibly.I feel this article did a good job of stating the pro's and cons of the situation.

This topic has definitely made this article a touchy situation, it could not only be controversial but also exposing to people. The piece was very informal and detailed as to how the TA's were cheating, which brought up the problem. By going public this puts a lot of tension on the problem, but it never addressed any possible solutions to it's audience. I would be very interested in reading about how the teachers and administration are going to handle this. What happens to the people who admitted to cheating on this article? Will their identities be released to the administration to take action? Even if action were taken to fix this cheating problem would it be alright for the Redwood journalists to write a piece updating the situation.
