Through the guiding principles and framework of this Strategic Plan, MGSD has embarked on an extraordinary and innovative journey.  The school system, parents, community and various other partners and constituents have joined forces to realize a shared vision - A Digital Conversion. The purpose of the Digital Conversion Initiative is to employ technology in ways that improve teaching and learning through increased student engagement while teaching the NC Standard Course of Study focusing on reading and mathematics. It is imperative to note that this project is a curriculum and instruction project, not a technology project. Through this paradigm shift in methodology, we are changing the way teachers teach and students learn, while utilizing an awesome set of technological tools

Differentiating instruction is a time-tested way of thinking about meeting students' needs as they make progress toward achievement or learning targets.  Differentiation is an elegant mindset that suggests to teachers a framework that permits them to engage students while focusing on learning results, and digital technologies offer many opportunities to differentiate instruction in meaningful ways.  However, differentiating instruction takes a concerted planning effort on our parts as teachers and teacher educators

This collection provides a first set of template tasks for implementing the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) strategy. The larger LDC framework calls for the development of other task collections, with this first set as a prototype for implementing LDC's overall approach to meeting the literacy challenge set by the Common Core State Standards.

Thirty years of research shows us that when all students are learning together (including those with the most extensive needs) AND are given the appropriate instruction and supports, ALL students can participate, learn, and excel within grade-level general education curriculum, build meaningful social relationships, achieve positive behavioral outcomes, and graduate from high school, college and beyond. How do we transform education to achieve these goals? According to the research, it takes administrative leadership, multi-tiered systems of support, family and community partnership, an inclusive educational framework including organizational structure and school culture, and policies and practices providing the backbone to these features

This Brief highlights federal policies for family engagement; describes examples of policy actions by the state of Massachusetts; and illustrates local policies and practices at the Dr. William W. Henderson Inclusion Elementary School in Dorchester, MA, a SWIFT knowledge development site. To guide SWIFT Center technical assistance on the Family and Community Engagement Domain in participating states and districts, we suggest four ways to weave family engagement policies and practices into the SWIFT framework.

It is important to remember that these elements must be considered within the context of your specific subject area and are not intended to alter or reduce your academic expectations. As well, they are not intended as a rigid checklist or prescription for instruction but rather serve as a framework for planning and delivering instruction.

MITS is a statewide project focused on: Assistive technology The instructional framework of UDL. Accessible instructional materials (AIM). MITS provides support materials, technical assistance, training, and an extensive lending library focused on improving outcomes for all students.

This, in turn, leads to increased self-control and problem solving abilities. "
