"This section of the OLAC website is intended to be used by State Support Team (SST) personnel and other educators (e.g., OLAC-certified facilitators) working on a full- or part-time basis to support districts in the effective use of the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) to support higher levels of student, educator, and organizational learning. It is also relevant to SST personnel whose primary work may be other than direct OIP facilitation since the OIP serves as the foundation for district-wide continuous improvement in the majority of Ohio school districts."

Deeper Learning in Schools | Deeper Learning - 0 views

  •
"These schools are part of ten school networks, each of which has its own set of principles about organizing schools. For that reason, the schools are not the same-there is no one approach to deeper learning. What they share is a commitment to a broader set of outcomes for young people than conventional approaches to schooling provide."

nice description of what is going on at the school. Example for districts in outlining purpose of TBTs, early release, etc. "At Montecito Union, our vision is to set a global standard of educational excellence. We strive to give our students the academic foundation to creatively solve complex problems, to apply interpersonal and collaborative skills, and to demonstrate a genuine sense of curiosity in a student-focused and supportive environment. We seek to help our students be empowered thinkers who positively impact and adapt to our ever changing and diverse world."

Getting Inside the Outside | Leaving to Learn - 0 views

  •
"To keep students in school and engaged as productive learners through to graduation, schools must provide many experiences in which all students do some of their learning outside school. All students need to leave school-frequently, regularly, and, of course, temporarily-to stay in school and persist in their learning. To accomplish this, schools must take down the walls that separate the learning that students do, and could do, in school from the learning they do, and could do, outside. This site is dedicated to exploring and deepening the learning opportunities that young people can have for learning out in the real world and aligning that learning with significant learning outcomes for which they receive academic and graduation credit."

Visible Thinking - 0 views

  •
Visible Thinking is a flexible and systematic research-based approach to integrating the development of students' thinking with content learning across subject matters. An extensive and adaptable collection of practices, Visible Thinking has a double goal: on the one hand, to cultivate students' thinking skills and dispositions, and, on the other, to deepen content learning. By thinking dispositions, we mean curiosity, concern for truth and understanding, a creative mindset, not just being skilled but also alert to thinking and learning opportunities and eager to take them

Making Learning Visible - 0 views

  •
Most of us are in groups all the time. But are these groups learning groups? When does a group become a learning group? Can a group construct its own way of learning? Can documenting children's learning lead to new ways of learning? These are some of the questions addressed in the research project, Making Learning Visible (MLV). MLV draws attention to the power of the group as a learning environment and documentation as a way to see and shape how and what children are learning. MLV is based on collaborative research conducted by Project Zero researchers with teachers from the Municipal Preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, and preschool through high school teachers and teacher educators in Massachusetts.

I Teach Bay: Reflections On A Year Of Educational Shifts - 0 views

  •
"Over the past school year, I have had the opportunity to work with educators locally, statewide and nationally who are all in the process of shifting their teaching to meet the requirements of new learning standards, new professional standards and new assessment designs.   I wish that all teachers had the opportunity to experience this kind of collaborative work at so many different levels.  I have done a lot of reflection on what I have learned and would like to share the top 5 ideas with all of you"
