    Using Facebook can be an effective way for academic libraries to connect with their user community. By posting updates on Facebook, libraries can inform their users about the library's programmes and services. They can invite students to attend training sessions, post practical information about the library's opening times, link to new and existing print and online resources, and update the university community about any new developments.

    Use of facebook by libraries does work and if kept current gets regular followers. It was good to see that we are doing many of the suggested things and also contained some ideas to be considered and applied. Here is ours https://www.facebook.com/pmhclibrary/

    This article demonstrates the needs and challenges in setting social media policies in school. Since schools encourage using social media in education context, policies should be made to guide students using social media in safe. Privacy, identitiy, compliance, content authority, accessibility and privacy have to be concerned. The article suggest that social media policy should have clear guidelines and firm principles, explain rules and consequences when violate, and resources list and review time for references.

The petitions claimed that the "feeling fat" emoji status on Facebook encouraged online body shaming. The policy recognises the benefits of social media in catholic schools as a tool for communication and learning (a rare thing for catholic schools).

    Yidarra's social media sets out appropriate use of social media for both staff and students. It has a lengthy list of inappropriate use of social media, making it very clear what is not acceptable. This policy is unique in that it also has a section dedicated to privacy with an appendix dedicated to the use of images and link to a form for parental permissions.

    This policy contains the expected don't slander the institution and a reminder that it is on there to stay. One statement caught my attention "A staff member should also consider carefully whether they are willing to accept students as social media "friends" as this might be perceived as a conflict of interest" (point 22). Not something I had thought of, I have been friends on social media with teachers before (high school, small class, extenuating circumstances). Largely it reads like every business social media policy I've read, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
