DHEA-S shown to increase genetic expression of adiponectin in human adipose tissue.  This has enormous implications on the link between DHEA and insulin resistance induce obesity. This is a peripheral tissue problem, not a central problem.

animal model: showed that DHEA treatment resulted in increased adiponectin secretion from fat cells. This occurred with an associated increase in PPAR-gamma receptors.  The suggestion is that DHEA through PPAR-gamma increased fat cell production and secretion of adiponectin.

DHEA increased adiponectin, improved omega 6/omega 3 ratios, and improved body fat content.

DHEA's effect on adipose tissue is through increased adiponectin and increased insulin sensitivity.  This is the mechanism through which DHEA is propose to aid in weight loss.
