Molex's senior leaders offer advice for organizations considering an employee engagement survey: Think ahead. Begin planning far in advance to ensure you have the necessary resources for the project. Ensure that senior leaders are committed to the survey and willing to participate in all communication efforts. For employees to pay attention and understand what the company is trying to achieve, communication from the top is critical. Act on the survey results. Show employees you're committed by listening and acting. Choose the right partner to advise you through the entire process. This teamwork and collaboration is the hallmark of a successful project."

Social Media: More Friends, More Stress, Study Finds - HispanicBusiness.com - 0 views

  •
The more social circles or Facebook friends a person has, the more likely social media can become a source of stress, Scottish researchers say. The more groups of people in someone's Facebook friends, researchers at the University of Edinburgh Business School reported, the greater the potential to cause offense, particularly if employers or parents are included. Stress rises when users present a version of themselves on Facebook that is unacceptable to some of their online "friends," the researchers said. Some 55 percent of parents follow their children on Facebook, they said, while more than half of employers have admitted to not hiring someone based on the applicant's Facebook page. "Facebook used to be like a great party for all your friends where you can dance, drink and flirt," Edinburgh researcher Ben Marder said. "But now with your Mum, Dad and boss there, the party becomes an anxious event full of potential social landmines." The researchers surveyed more than 300 people on Facebook, mostly students, with an average age of 21."

HR Magazine - CSR initiatives help boost employee engagement - 1 views

  •
In a survey carried out in April this year of 1,000 UK employees, 63% said that they would feel significantly more 'engaged' with their employer if it allowed charitable working. The benefits of this improved engagement for the employer include increased productivity, less staff turnover, fewer sick days and a generally happier workplace. This trend was even more marked among the 20-30-year-old bracket, the so-called 'generation Y'. Nearly 70% of this group said that they would feel more engaged by taking part in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and criticised senior management, with over half saying it was 'out of touch' with the wants and values of generation Y.
