Cyber Attack Target: Your Car - 0 views

  •
Cyber Consequences Unit, a non-profit organization that helps companies analyze the potential for targeted computer attacks on their networks and products is suggesting the potential for hacking or computer worms and Trojans being delivered to automobiles. Interesting how much everything is so intertwined with our mobile devices and internet technology that even our cars can get hacked.

Canadians increasingly open to digital wallets: survey - 0 views

  •
This article elaborates on the idea of the constant shifts towards more mobile and interactive digital technology. We are now able to use our smartphone to make payments. Canadians are embracing smartphones as part of their everyday life, and increasingly they are using these devices to stay connected to their finances through service like mobile banking and emerging options such as mobile payments. It is interesting how much technology has impacted our every day activities.

Catfish - A Documentary - 0 views

A very interesting movie that deals with anonymity on the internet. 2 filmakers look at a friendship formed online between an artist and a small-town family. I really liked the documentary!

The filmmakers of this documentary have come under a lot of fire as to whether or not the film was staged. After reflecting it does seem coincidental that so much of this key points of the storyline are caught on tape. However, staged or not it really makes you question who you might be talking to on the internet.

Mobile Phone Access Reaches Three Quarters of the Planet's Population - 0 views

  •
Hi everyone, Given the PEW study we just read that highlighted the use of mobile phones, I found this article particularly interesting and relevant. Published by the World Bank, it explains how access to mobile phone use has reached to 3/4 of the global population. Pretty mind blowing stuff.

Apple: the Trouble with Being No. 1 - 0 views

  •
Interesting article about how Apple is now on a course similar to other techno companies -- "tweaking" their products and using timely release dates to maximize profits. But will they be able to innovate?

Technology for Technology's Sake - 1 views

  •
While writing my blog, I found this article which backed up an opinion I had about the use of technology. This is a blog written by an elementary school teacher in California. He writes about using technology in the classroom -- that it should be for learning and not for technology's sake. He brings up some interesting examples and scenarios.

It's amazing that we repeatedly face this debate. Educators at all levels are continually facing a technologically determinist position from the public, technology companies and policy makers. But the writer of this post illustrates really well, that it's how technology is used that's important. Thanks for the great post.

Giving Your Brand Primal Power Through Storytelling - 2 views

  •
I'm starting to explore topics for my MRP (though a decision is very far off) and one topic I'm thinking about exploring is the role of organizational storytelling or folklore in the org.'s communications. Although from a branding perpective, this is an interesting read on the topic.

Twitter's most active country is China (where it is blocked) - 0 views

  •
It's not much of a surprise when China tops a "world's most" list since it does, after all, have the biggest population. It is, however, intriguing that a new study discovered that China is the most active country for Twitter, as the service is blocked there. I find this interesting because they have Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter (which I use to follow Asian public figures), and yet they choose to go the extra length to use a platform that is blocked in their country. It's surprising that (according to the article) China and India have more Twitter users than the US.

Explore Einstein's brain in this new interactive iPad app - 0 views

  •
This article is interesting, but what strikes my attention is that there seems to be no regulations on apps being sold to the public. Would you buy an interactive app of Einstein's brain for $9.99? In the article, it states that it could "spark a whole new generation of neuroscientists," but there is debate as to whether anyone (most importantly Einstein) would want a "circus made of his remains." Yikes.
