This site builds on this week's discussion on virtual team work and also relates to our Visual and Document Design course. We can now have the ability to connect virtually using visual applications. 50 percent say Facebook pages are more useful than websites - 0 views

  •
As more people turn to brands on Facebook, it's important to know why they do-or don't-click "like." Consider these new findings. I find this surprising. Maybe because I don't "like" brands on Facebook to avoid a cluttered page and newsfeed. Personally, seeing a brand's post all the time would turn me away from the brand. I'm not sure why, but I still seem to have this mentality that Facebook brand pages aren't as "legit". But that's just me. Check out the infographic.

I'm starting to explore topics for my MRP (though a decision is very far off) and one topic I'm thinking about exploring is the role of organizational storytelling or folklore in the org.'s communications. Although from a branding perpective, this is an interesting read on the topic.

Lady Gaga's Littlemonsters.com: Why It Works and What It Means for Social Media Read mo... - 0 views

This is really interesting article following the ways in which Lady Gaga has capitalized on using social media to promote her brand - especially now that she has her own social networking site for her fans that launched earlier this summer. I don't consider myself an avid fan of hers, but I'm really impressed with the way she uses social media to interact and connect with her fans; which is basically the only reason why I follow her on Twitter.

Should Live Tweeting Be Protected Like Broadcast Rights? - 0 views

  •
I think this is a new aspect in the reporter/journalist vs. citizen journalist debate. Really interesting how there is already a policy in place regarding live-tweeting from the athletic department at the University of Washington. "Social media has irreversibly altered the media landscape, and the power relationship between big content brands, individual reporters and fans. But the major money makers - ad-rich TV and radio, in particular - will always, or at least for the foreseeable future, remain in the control of the powerful. So it's best for them to lay off the micromanaging, and accept some bit of change."

Facebook Experiments With 'Reply' Button on Comments - 0 views

  •
In light of our discussion on micro-blogs this week and the different models of public relations, I thought this addition of the "reply" to Facebook comments was an interesting development in terms of user-generated content and feedback to brands. It will be interesting to see whether their "experiment" is actually successful.

Watch this beautiful video of Nuit Blanche 2012. It makes me regret not going this year. This got me thinking about video as a medium to build brand value. How could Nuit Blanche use this video (or video in general) to capture the imagination of Torontonians and get more people out on the street and enjoy this event?

One in five use social media for customer service: survey - The Globe and Mail - 0 views

  •
Just a quick piece about a survey that found one in five consumers have used social media to get a customer service response in the past year. Worth noting from the study is that only 54 per cent of consumers tell others about good experiences. I found that surprisingly high? Also, check out the link in the article to Dell's guide to social commenting and managing online conversations -- http://www.mediabistro.com/alltwitter/files/2012/05/dell-social-media-tips.png
