What:
Assisting with Reading Fluency in the Classroom will provide the paraeducator with the information and skills needed to assist classroom teachers in meeting the literacy needs of a variety of students. It deals with the specific area of reading fluency. It prepares paraeducators to understand important fluency concepts and terms, and to use a variety of research-based instructional techniques that improve fluency at the word, phrase, sentence, and connected text levels. The Instructional Teamwork Academy academy is designed to help paraeducators work effectively on a team. This course is recommended for teachers as well. Teachers and/or paraeducators may take this course without the other team member, but it is most effective when teams take the course together. The academy consists of four modules consisting of introductory material regarding teamwork, delineation of roles and responsibilities, classroom instruction, and behavior management.

Spend the day playing games that are easy to implement in a classroom, while tutoring, after school, or in a home situation-most only involve dice and cards. Interventions can be fun and they don't have to be traditional. They do need to be skill specific, however. The day will be spent playing games and connecting these games to Montana Common Core Math Content. Time will be dedicated to gearing up and gearing down skills of a variety of games so that you can use games from your background when you get back to your site. What:
MEA-MFT PASS is an intensive four-day course, designed to help Montana paraprofessionals meet Federal qualification standards contained in the No Child Left Behind Act. The course has been developed by and for Montana paraprofessionals and provides participants with important skills in classroom management as well as proven strategies in reading, writing, and math instruction, taught in a dynamic and fun setting. A nationally developed assessment is built directly into the four-day course, assuring that paraprofessionals who take the course can demonstrate evidence of content mastery to their local districts and the state of Montana. Course materials are taken from the nationally recognized and award winning Educational Research and Dissemination (ER&D) program, developed by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). A team of highly trained educators from throughout the state are responsible for teaching the course. Each trainer has received over 70 hours of ER&D training at the national level.
