While at the Vermont Tech Jam last Friday, Oct. 24th I spoke with several people who helped to point me in a positive direction regarding my possible career choices One person I spoke with is Tom Jaros from Empower Mobility. Empower Mobility is a custom app making company. Tom gave me great advice to help me with my own app making endeavors. He told me to start with simple things and work my way up. Another thing he told me was if I wanted to make Apple apps I needed to get an Apple computer. He told me to look for old versions of Mac computers so that I don't have to spend a fortune. I thought the things he told me where valuable points and I would consider asking him for an interview about the coding that are required for creating apps. I may have more to reflect on after asking him more questions and talking with him further. Tom sparked my interest with creating apps and I look forward to branching off into this field.

This website is INCREDIBLY useful. This helps you navigate all the quirks of the common app. It take you through each tab and tells you how to fill it out, and what you should and should not say. I filled out my common app with this by my side, and I recommend all you college bound seniors should too.

A lot of colleges also accept the common app in lieu of other application types, so always check and see if your college is on that list. It could cut down on the time you spend on applications if you find out the college accepts the common app.

This website describes some common mistakes that you might make on the common app. With all the stress in applying to college, it is easy to let the little things, such as typos, fall under our radar. By checking this website you can make sure that your common app is accurate before you submit it to any schools.

This source has been vital to me to learning languages. It does not teach languages (so far) that do not use the same characters as English, but it teaches all of the major European languages. It starts you off by teaching you how to say you are drinking or eating and your gender, and slowly raises your skill level in the language by adding more vocabulary and the longer you work on the courses, the faster you'll be able to say exactly what you want! This resource has helped me to keep up my French skills during vacations and breaks for school, it also has helped me to have very basic skills in German, Spanish, and Italian. I would highly recommend this app (YES! IT'S AN APP FOR YOUR MOBILE PHONE! AS WELL AS A WEBSITE!) to anyone who's even the slightest bit interested in learning a language. It will slowly build you up using the strategy of making you translate from English to the language and vice versa. This is a must-use for anyone learning a European language.

This is a site that I have used in the past and actually downloaded onto my phone. This is a great site to learn more about a language and to play games to improve!

The common app is a widely used tool that helps you group all your applications together on one website. You submit your applications through the site, and you can also view your application status as you are waiting to hear back from schools.

Animoto's philosophy is to make it simple and make it beautiful. This tool can be used to make a video. Animoto can also be used byiPhone and Android owners by downloading the free app! Create and share videos using your phone's pictures and video clips, or watch and download the ones you've made on your computer.

This website is so easy to work with. All you do is upload your pictures and Animoto does the rest.

This source was a treasure to find. Flipping from college website to college website in attempt to figure out all their individual requirements was a nightmare. Frustrated, I searched "college requirements" and found this gem of a website! Prep Matters is very simply a list of colleges and their testing and deadline requirements. It is organized in alphabetical order and lists the college or universities SAT scale, optional test and super scoring policies, ACT requirements, subject test requirements, whether or not the college is on Common App, and all early action/decision and regular admission deadlines. I think my favorite part of this website, however, is the ability to 'click' the college you are interested in, and it takes you directly to the college's homepage. The only downfall of this source is it does not have all colleges!

On this website there are options that have prompts for writing your college essay and ways to research and look at colleges that you might be interested in. The Common Application has a range of topics for your college essay that are one's that really get you writing about yourself.

This site is very useful because it offers a variety of articles. Colgate offers articles on good oral hygiene including choosing the right toothbrush and toothpaste, regular replacements, how to floss and more.
