Common App - 1 views

  •
This website allows you to make a profile, practice writing from prompts, and do stuff that colleges will be interested in seeing when applying to college. This is a very helpful tool when going about the process of applying to any colleges.
  •
A lot of colleges also accept the common app in lieu of other application types, so always check and see if your college is on that list. It could cut down on the time you spend on applications if you find out the college accepts the common app.

This site has a unique layout. It allows you to search for a college and look at it's statistics, look at its average financial aid package, and see application requirements for admission. This site was super helpful to me because I realized I couldn't apply to one of my colleges because I hadn't done all of the application requirements for that specific school.
  •
You can also compare three different colleges at once when searching for colleges, which is pretty nice because you can see how they stack up to each other.
  •
How is this one better than Collegeboard?
  •
The college board website has been very helpful throughout my exploration. The website lets you search colleges, and shows you only the important nuggets of information, without the hassle of combing though the colleges website.

Stay calm during the admission process - 0 views

  •
This is an interesting article. It gives advice, but it also highlights the fact that students, especially seniors, should remain calm. Just because you do not get into your dream school does not mean your life will be over. And handling the bulk of work with a calm mind will help you produce better work, and ultimately a better application. How do most of you guys stay calm during the admission process?

JavaScript Tutorial - 0 views

This is a site that I found when having trouble with JavaScript code. This site is incredibly helpful to anyone having problems with JavaScript. I couldn't believe it when I found this many explanations and helpful guides on so many topics. The site covers most of the more advanced concepts of JavaScript, or if it does show simple code it explains its more complex applications. This site came in handy for many times in my Programming and Logic class when I was having trouble. I find the information on the site very reliable because when I fix my code according to its instructions it always solves the problem. I would recommend this site to anyone who has a grasp on the basics of JavaScript and wishes to expand their knowledge.

Ten Steps to Writing an Essay - 0 views

  •
This is a great site for helping you with writing. I breaks down essays into all the necessary parts and gives you advice on how to be affective with your writing. It tells you everything from how to research properly, to making an outline and a thesis. This was helpful for me when we were assigned essays in English. The site prompted me to complete my essays before they were due so I wouldn't be rushed. This would be very applicable to classroom environments to help struggling and proficient students alike. I find this site extremely reliable because even though this is subjective information, the reservoir of information greatly improved my writing. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to become a better writer.

This videos discussed the differences between real images and virtual images, as well as the differences between diffuse and specular reflections, and even explains refraction and its applications in optics. It also walks you through using focus point definitions of curves to determine what type of image and where it will be or appear to be. Near the end it even shows you some actual calculations about the exact position of images.

College Prowler- College Research - 0 views

This site allows you to look at reviews of colleges written by alumnis or attending students. This gives you a different perspective of that college. It also allows you to know things that college tours simply don't tell you. They also have scholarship opportunities that you can apply for. On top of that, you can see rankings of schools and research further into each school you are interested in. I have found this website very helpful in my college search, and I have even applied to a few scholarships on this site.

This website includes college reviews written by current students. College Prowler is a student community where you can ask questions, share tips, and discuss campus life at more than 7,000 colleges and universities.
  •
College Prowler is a site that rates colleges and universities so that people who are going through the college process can navigate towards a better school. If you can't decide between two schools and you don't have the time to visit again, you can use this site to help make your decision!
  •
College Prowler is the website to use! Its a quick, easy, and free sign up process to gain access to all the website has to offer. Once you have an account, you can search any college you want and it will bring you to an information page. The college pages consist of student reviews, which in my opinion, are the most reliable source! You can look through individual tabs such as summary, about the school, about the students, about the campus and about the location. Under each of these tabs are an abundance of information and reviews that help you fully understand the college. The best tool on College Prowler is the Applicant Status. With this tool you can plug in your GPA and SAT/ACT scores, and it will place you among statistics showing people admitted, denied, wait listed, and attending. It is a great way to see where you stand in terms of college admittance!

Community of College Applicants - 0 views

This website allows you to sign up, enter in your test scores, GPA, extra curriculars and other important academic information. Then, you can pick all of the colleges you want to apply to and they will show you your chances of getting in based on percentages. It compares you to other students on parchment, as well as your academic profile and that is how they make the educated guess. It also tells you how sure they are of the percentage they gave you. On this site, you can also look at others that are applying to the schools you want to go to, and whether or not they got accepted or not. It is a great support system and a resourceful tool to use, even if it may not be the most accurate.

Unigo- College Search - 0 views

  •
Unigo is another great college research source. I particularly like this sight because its focus is on the opinions of students attending the college, with less insight from the college itself. The information I found on Unigo was honest, with both good and bad responses about my college. It was a great way to look at my "dream schools" from a different point of view through comments, photos, and videos. Unigo has a really great, straightforward college search that narrowed down my top colleges. Also, Unigo had great tips on college essay writing, and filling out applications.

This website shows examples of college essays that were successful because of their voice and tone, creativity, and clarity. They range from emotional, cerebral, philosophical, humorous, serious, or a combination of styles. The most important aspect of all of them being that they got the applicants into the college of the choice. It is a very useful website for determining the flavor you want your essay to have!
