From Dept of Ed & Child Development, SA. "We have thought deeply about what we value for our students' learning, how this is represented in the learning areas through the essence, and how this essence helps us work with all the components of the learning area. In this section we work with our colleagues using the BitL tool to ensure our pedagogy brings the essence of the learning areas to life in the classroom. It helps us engage our learners as scientists, as mathematicians, as historians, and as great communicators - so that they not only know about the important understandings and develop the skills within each learning area, but can bring this understanding to bear in their everyday contexts in powerful ways."

Slowness, Wisdom and Change - Practical Theory - 2 views

Better we make the wise decision than the expedient one. Read the older educators... Read Ted Sizer and Deborah Meier and Herb Kohl... and feel the wisdom in their words. They write without hubris, but instead with an acknowledgment of their own flawed humanity. They write with an understand that they cannot be all things to all children, but with the knowledge that they must come as close as they can. I am far from religious, but I am reminded a lot these days of the serenity prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

What is a DNS record? And just who is in charge of the Internet? Get answers to those questions and many more in Make Use Of's free ebook How the Internet Works."

Many thanks to everyone from Brauer College, Keysborough Secondary College, North Geelong Secondary College and Newcomb Secondary College for your enthusiasm and hard work to make the day such a success. Activities included a 'hands-on' work presenting a live news bulletin in Deakin's TV studio, Journalism video and interviewing exercises and a tour of the Deakin campus. Many thanks to Subway for providing lunch, too! We will be running more Deakin Media Days in June and November, 2013, so watch out for more news about these."

4020 Φ NSW Photographer's Rights - 0 views

  • Otherwise teachers generally do have rights to photograph their own students while on school property. Permission for this is typically included in the terms and conditions that parents sign when enrolling their child in the school. If parents object to photographs, then they must sign a declaration to that effect (most don't bother).
