Through Grand Challenges for Development (GCD), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its partners are sourcing, selecting, and accelerating science, technology, and business model innovations that have the potential to achieve large-scale development impact. Securing Water for Food: A Grand Challenge for Development (SWFF) is part of a portfolio of 7 GCDs, each tackling a critical and complex development challenge. SWFF's objective is to enable the production of more food with less water and/or make more water available for food production, processing, and distribution in developing and emerging countries. It is jointly funded by USAID, the South African Department of Science and Technology, Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), and the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (collectively, the "Founding Partners"). This is the fourth Call for Proposals (RFA) under Securing Water for Food.

USAID/Middle East is making a special call for the submission of Concept Papers focused on the Middle East Water Security Initiative (MWSI). The goal of the MWSI is to improve sustainable, long-term access to water for up to 20 million people living in the Middle East. The MWSI will target Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank/Gaza, and Yemen and promote sharing of best practices and lessons learned among the five participating countries. To achieve its bold but doable goal, MWSI will engage both international and local actors from the private sector, civil society, public sector, and other organizations to (a) support dynamic young entrepreneurs, researchers, and consumers with opportunities to develop, test, scale-up and market "water-smart" technologies; and (b) increase awareness of and local ability to address water security challenges in the Middle East through behavior change and advocacy campaigns.

The goal of the National Integrated Water Quality Program (NIWQP) is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of surface water and groundwater resources through research, education, and extension activities. Projects funded through this program will work to solve water resource problems by advancing and disseminating the knowledge base available to agricultural, rural, and urbanizing communities. Funded projects should lead to science-based decision making and management practices that improve the quality of the Nations surface water and groundwater resources in agricultural, rural, and urbanizing watersheds.

This call is for a one-year or semester-long fellowship for a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow wishing to work on the history of water law in Israel/Palestine or a related topic (such as the history of water law in a related jurisdiction, the history of related areas of law in Israel/Palestine, legal transfers in the British Empire, etc.). The fellowship is part of the Israel Science Foundation-funded research project headed by Dr. David Schorr: "Private and Public Water Rights in Mandate Palestine and Early Israel". TAU Law and its Berg Institute for Law and History are vibrant and collegial centers of legal history where candidates can expect interactions with a variety of interesting scholars in the field, and access to a wide range of historical and legal databases is available.

The program on international transboundary water cooperation will improve cooperation over shared waters in regions where water is, or may become, a source of conflict

One important effect of global climate change is the reduction in naturally stored water resources which, for Peru, means melting glaciers and a decrease in the size of highland wetlands (paramos). The loss of these areas decreases water availability for upland and lowland communities and increases the potential for Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs). This APS seeks to stimulate adaptation projects that assist indigenous mountain communities, rural and urban areas, and local and regional governments potentially affected by GLOFs or changes in water availability. General project outcomes will be long-term, sustainable approaches that help reduce the impact of climate change on glaciated and highland wetland ecosystems and on those that depend on these ecosystems' services.

The goal of this Activity is to facilitate the economic recovery of select crisis-affected communities in North-Eastern Nigeria. The purpose is to bolster the three state governments' capacities to create and sustain enabling environments for the Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Agencies (STWSSA) and Water Consumer Associations (WCA) operators, and for these service provision agencies to increase their capacities to sustainably provide essential WASH services. This Activity will: ● increase access to water and sanitation services in order to reduce illnesses and child mortality, and to sustain health outcomes; and ● Strengthen local WASH institutions including STWSSAs and WCAs to sustain WASH services.

The primary purpose of the Rural Access to New Opportunities in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (RANO-WASH) is to increase access to sustainable water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in targeted rural areas of Madagascar. RANO-WASH will expand access to sustainable WASH services; facilitate improved behaviors and use of those services; develop and support public-private partnerships; and strengthen governance at the community, commune, regional, and national levels. This Program Description articulates a strategic set of interventions that takes advantage of USAID/Madagascar's historic and current work in health, natural resources management, and agriculture, and its unique comparative advantages as a donor and a key partner.

The purpose of this activity is to scale up investments in green infrastructure (GI) in Peru as a strategy to regulate water supply and increase resilience to climate change. Direct beneficiaries are urban and rural populations and productive sectors, such as agriculture, vulnerable to water scarcity and floods.

The Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Conclave on Assessing Inter-State Water Usage in North India." Through this project, the grantee will conduct two individual workshops in the most impacted states, Punjab and Rajasthan. IODP scientific objectives require a heavy vessel for drilling deep sedimentary and crustal holes, a lighter vessel to provide widely distributed arrays of high resolution cores to address climate, environmental, and observatory objectives, and use of other drilling platforms, called Mission Specific Platforms (MSP's), for the Arctic and shallow water projects which can't be undertaken from the two primary IODP vessels.

The Public Affairs Sections (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States in Islamabad, Pakistan and New Delhi, India are pleased to announce an open competition for assistance awards through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The Embassies invite all eligible organizations (see Section C for Eligibility Requirements) to submit a proposal for a Grant or Cooperative Agreement to support programs that connect U.S., Pakistani, and Indian stakeholders. The U.S. Embassies in Islamabad, Pakistan, and New Delhi, India, support initiatives that bring Americans, Pakistanis, and Indians together for educational and cultural exchange, joint training opportunities, and collaborative projects that result in sustainable relationships and increased regional cooperation. Since 2011, the Embassies in Pakistan and India have supported almost a dozen grant-funded programs that have promoted cooperation in the arts, cultural heritage and preservation, economic issues, education, journalism and water management.

"BIRD Energy" follows the same rules and procedures as BIRD.  Please refer to BIRD's website for submission details - www.birdf.com . To be considered, a project proposal should include:   ·    R&D cooperation between two companies or cooperation between a company and a university/research institution (one from the U.S. and one from Israel). ·       Innovation in areas such as: Solar Power, Alternative Fuels, Advanced Vehicle Technologies, Smart Grid, Water-Energy Nexus, Wind Energy or any other Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency technology. ·       Significant commercial potential; the project outcome should lead to commercialization.

The purpose of this project is to improve environmental governance, particularly to address the challenges of air pollution, water, and waste management. The goal is to improve the regulatory and enforcement environment resulting in the creation or strengthening of environmental policies, or promote the adoption of environmental technologies or practices in Morocco , Jordan, Oman, Panama, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and/or Honduras.

The U.S. Ambassador's Special Self-Help (SSH) program is a grass-roots assistance program that allows U.S. embassies to respond quickly to local requests for small community-based development projects. This Self-Help fund provides small, short-term grants (one year) to community groups that are working to improve the basic economic and social conditions of their villages or communities. The fund provides grants for activities such as construction of classrooms, construction of ventilated pit latrines, construction of community centers and health clinics, boreholes for access to clean water, school equipment and supplies, medical equipment, solar heating and agricultural kits, among others listed in our guidelines.

The Social Science Research Council and the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership have announced that applications are now open for the Abe Fellowship for Journalists. The fellowship is designed to encourage in-depth coverage of topics of pressing concern to the United States and Japan through individual short-term policy-related projects. Applicants are invited to submit proposals on one of four themes. 1) Threats to Personal, Societal, and International Security: Topics may include food, water, and energy insecurity; pandemics; climate change; disaster preparedness, prevention, and recovery; and conflict, terrorism, and cyber security. 2) Growth and Sustainable Development: Topics may include global financial stability, trade imbalances and agreements, adjustment to globalization, climate change and adaptation, and poverty and inequality. 3) Social, Scientific, and Cultural Trends and Transformations: Topics may include aging and other demographic change, the benefits and dangers of reproductive genetics, gender and social exclusion, expansion of STEM education among women and underrepresented populations, migration, rural depopulation and urbanization, impacts of automation on jobs, poverty and inequality, and community resilience. 4) Governance, Empowerment, and Participation: Topics may include challenges to democratic institutions, participatory governance, human rights, the changing role of NGO/NPOs, the rise of new media, and government roles in fostering innovation.

Mexico Standard Program's goal is to promote partnerships between public agencies and groups interested in protecting, improving, restoring, and managing an appropriate distribution and diversity of wetland ecosystems and other habitats for wetlands-associated migratory birds and other fish and wildlife in North America. A 1:1 match is required. This program supports the DOI and FWS mission of protecting and managing the nation's natural resources by collaborating with partners and stakeholders to conserve land and water and to expand outdoor recreation and access.

USAID/Guatemala hereby solicits concept papers from U.S. and non-U.S. organizations for engaging with USAID Guatemala under the Partnerships for Prosperity (P4P) APS. USAID/Guatemala is committed to strategic partnerships as a means to increase the impact of its development work and make it sustainable. Partnerships enable USAID/Guatemala to leverage private sector assets, innovation, markets, and expertise. The P4P APS emphasizes partnerships that allow USAID/Guatemala to collaborate and jointly define development challenges with the private sector, identify the most impactful solutions, and address these through mutual contributions of resources. USAID/Guatemala seeks such partnerships through the Partnerships for Prosperity APS in areas where USAID and the partner share development objectives. These development objectives include addressing malnutrition, employment for youth, clean water and sanitation, education technology, improved natural resource management, and reducing corruption. The goal of the collaboration is to address development challenges using an approach or innovation that can be replicated and sustained leading to measurable improvements in development outcomes. Innovations are not defined by their novelty, but by their potential to achieve significant development outcome versus existing alternatives.

The National Park Service Shared Beringian Heritage Program (SBHP) recognizes and celebrates the unique natural resources and cultural heritage shared by Russia and the United States in the region known as Beringia. From the Kolyma River in Russia to Alaska's border with the Yukon Territory in Canada, this region includes the people, the land, and the water that connected the continents of North America and Asia during the Pleistocene ice ages. The area provides unparalleled opportunities to study both earth and human history. The overall purpose of the SBHP is to advance local, national, international understanding and preservation of the region¿s resources and to sustain the cultural vitality of its indigenous people. Specific programmatic goals are to: ¿ Improve conservation, sustainability, and knowledge of the region¿s natural and cultural resources; ¿ Preserve subsistence opportunities and other historic traditions and practices; ¿ Interpret and communicate about the region¿s unique and internationally significant resources and values; ¿ Provide opportunities for cultural connections and knowledge exchange. To meet its goals, the SBHP funds projects that connect people and activities in the Beringia region. Proposed projects may be research-focused, community-based, educational, cultural, or conservational. Every project must demonstrate how it fulfills the goals of the SBHP.

This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) seeks opportunities to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate in the research, development, piloting, and scaling of innovative interventions for effectively mitigating air, water, and soil pollution, including ocean plastic pollution, electronic and other forms of solid waste in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) invites organizations, companies, academic and research institutions, and investors to propose innovative approaches for preventing and mitigating pollution in countries to promote healthier populations, cleaner environments, and inclusive, sustainable economic growth. USAID's Office of Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) within the Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3/DDI), in cooperation with regional and Global Health Bureaus and selected Missions, developed this BAA for Pollution Prevention & Mitigation to improve the Agency's ability to assist partner countries in solving complex pollution problems that threaten sustainable development. This BAA seeks to engage with a wide range of actors within the global pollution sector to provide innovative interventions and technologies that further the U.S. Government's commitment to improving human health and the environment. Specific opportunities to do so will be provided through Addenda issued under this BAA.
