Concentrations of vitamin D3 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in raw and cooked New Zealand bee... - 0 views

  •
Concentrations of vitamin D3 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in raw and cooked New Zealand beef and lamb. Roger Purchas, Maggie Zoua, Philip Pearcea and Felicity Jackson- Journal of Food Composition and Analysis Volume 20, Issue 2, March 2007, Pages 90-98 For lamb, the highest levels of vitamin D3 were in the shoulder chop both before and after cooking, while levels were lowest in the rack muscle. Similar cut differences were shown for 25OHD3 concentrations. For beef there were no significant differences between the cuts for vitamin D3, but concentrations of 25OHD3 were lower in the striploin before and after cooking, Vitamin D3 levels tended to be higher in beef cuts than in lamb cuts, but the opposite held for 25OHD3. Concentrations of vitamin D3 were similar to those in other reports, but the 25OHD3 levels were at the high end of reported ranges. With 25OHD3 being more potent than vitamin D3, it is concluded that meat can make a useful contribution of this vitamin to the human diet.

Goji berries and Vitamin C · Neverness - 1 views

  •
"This is for anyone researching goji berries, in the hope they'll come across this page, and not just accept the usual marketing page they come across. Goji berries are a great food. But they do not contain 500 times more Vitamin C than oranges, as is so often misleadingly claimed on marketing sites. Goji berries contain 2500mg/100g, while oranges contain 50mg/100g Vitamin C. That's 50 times more! Still a great food, but not quite what is claimed"

THE LECTIN STORY - 0 views

  •
"While research in lectinology is in its infancy this information is critical to your health and it is important to begin to understand lectins NOW. Read the following report carefully. I'll get specific about how this all applies to you. ALL foods contain lectins. Some are your friends, others neutral, and others may be your enemies. Know your lectins. Avoid your enemies. DEFINITION Protein or glycoprotein substances, usually of plant origin, of non-immunoglobulin nature, capable of specific recognition of and reversible binding to, carbohydrate moieties of complex glycoconjugates without altering the covalent structure of any of the recognized glycosyl ligands. This group includes monovalent lectins (i.e. bacterial and plant toxins). These lectins bind to sugar moieties in cell walls or membranes and thereby change the physiology of the membrane to cause agglutination, mitosis, or other biochemical changes in the cell. (agglutination- clumping; mitosis-multiplication or division of a cell forming two daughter cells) High levels of lectins (specialized proteins) may be found in grains (also known as cereals or pulses), legumes (that is 'beans' including peanuts), dairy and plants in the nightshade family. Many other foods contain lectins but are less well studied and the amounts of lectins present are not thought to be as high or as potentially toxic.!

Homo Diet Healthy Way of Eating, by Dr. Jan Kwasniewski - homodiet.netfirms.com - 0 views

  •
Welcome to the English language website for the "Optimal Diet" movement. The Optimal Diet is a dietary model of human nutrition devised and implemented by Dr. Jan Kwasniewski. The Optimal Diet is a movement, which originated in recent years in Poland, and has rapidly spread to a number of countries worldwide, is to improve the well-being, health and biological value of people as individuals, and to correct nutritional mistakes of human kind as a whole, through promotion and implementation of the "optimal" model of human nutrition. Optimal Diet is based on the delivery of the most important nutritional elements, e.g., the most valuable proteins and fats, whilst leaving the body in charge of the distribution of these elements to the most critical areas. The ideal proportion between the main food components of protein, fat and carbohydrates should be in the range of : m m m m 1 : 2.5 - 3.5 : 0.5 In order to work out the correct daily food intake using this proportion, one has to know how many grams of protein needs to be ingested in a day to satisfy body's requirements.

Brain (as food) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

"The brain, like most other internal organs, or offal, can serve as nourishment. Brains used for nourishment include those of pigs, squirrels, horses, cattle, monkeys, chickens and goats. In many cultures, different types of brain are considered a delicacy. In the Southern United States, canned pork brain in gravy can be purchased for consumption as food. This form of brain is often fried with scrambled eggs to produce "Eggs n' Brains".[1] They are part of the menu in many family owned restaurants throughout the region. The brain of animals also features in French cuisine, in dishes such as cervelle de veau and tête de veau."

A Balanced Diet - 11 views

  •
The amount of energy to be provided by a balanced diet for any person will depend on several factors: age, sex, body size, lifestyle, occupation, and the climate of the area he is in. The proportion of the various food classes in a diet is also not the same for different persons, due to varying physical and physiological requirements..

Good info, thanks. I know that nutrition plays a great role, but why people still need to be on a diet to lose weight if they can just change their nutrition?
  •
Well, people go on a diet because they want to lose weight faster. Moreover, their bodies are not ready for immediate nutritional changes, and it is not good for their health. Following the diet, they prepare their guts for a new amount of food. I personally have just finished a 7-day cucumber-based diet https://betterme.world/articles/7-day-cucumber-based-diet/ and I'm more than happy with the result. But of course, nutritionists suggest that a lifestyle change is more efficient and healthy.
