Along with his band-mate, Ramona and their dog Zepplin, the trio explore styles of music, compose songs, explore sounds, have jam sessions and allow an interactive inside look at famous musicians and composers in their locations around the globe. This informative website is designed to get young students interested in the arts, namely music, theater, and dance. Designed by Canada's National Arts Centre, the music section offers a wealth of information on composers, instruments, the orchestra, and other musical topics, with games and activities to deepen understanding. It also has separate pages for teachers, students, parents, and artists that have different resources.

The Making Most of Music practice: Research-Based strategies to Motivate and Empower Students will be used to inform my parents about a valid concern. I teach the steel drum and most students do not have a personal instrument. Therefore, practice time at the pan yard seems as if it takes too much of the students time. If parents are enlightened with this information they may have more of an understanding and appreciation for the amount of practice time spent in the pan yard.

Here is a great video from CNN that highlights the benefits of being a part of a music program.  Many have done studies whether or not music affects a student's brain.  This is a great video to show students and parents along with administration to strengthen the program you already have.  Too many schools are doing away with the arts and it cannot happen!

This is part of a video series showing beginning instruction on each instrument. This is a great video to share with students (and parents) to help them out in the first few lessons. Some information needs to be explained more completely, but this provides good basic knowledge and helps students remember what was taught during lessons.

I really like the composer-related activities, especially when they related to recorder. I think that many times, students (and parents and classroom teachers) don't view the recorder as a real instrument. I think this is a great way to show them that they can play along with famous classical melodies.

Article written to support the use of technology to compliment instruction and enhance student learning instead of technology for technology sake. Teachers should use social media cites, e.g., blogs, to facilitate discussion and feedback from students, create online PLNs. The cross curricular benefit is increasing writing facility and literacy. A couple of concerns are cyberbullying and parents who may question how much learning is taking place with social media. Educators can help others, including students, understand that music learning can take place outside of the classroom through social media and broaden the audience.

A great resource for music advocacy as well as how other teachers are promotting their programs for the overall development for their students. Music Matters is a foundation that provides funding to schools who are in danger of losing their programs or need assistance in raising funds for their programs.

This site offers resources about the current state of music education as well as useful articles about music advocacy. The purpose of this site is to inform people about the importance of music eduction and keep them updated about the important events happening today that may change the state of music education. My school district was actually recognized as one of the districts to receive "Best Community for Music Education" by NAMM. Not only is this site useful for music educators, but it also has articles about the role of community members and administrators in advocating for music education.

NAMM (National Association for Music Merchants) is a leader in music education. Their trade show every year draws the most important music companies from around the world. NAMM helps music education by providing a place for music educators to learn about the innovations and products available to them. Their website offers grant opportunities for teachers, and information for parents.

Auralia5 and Musition5 are very good soft wares for a music classroom. Auralia is for ear training, while Musition is for music theory. These softwares enhance a student's musicianship through very interesting activities of listening, composing, notating music, and sight reading/playing. A school has to purchase the software, though it is cloud based. The teacher adds students to different classes in the groups so that when assignments are set, they are easily submitted to the class where they belong. Teachers can create and assign worksheets, tests, and courses, and grade his/her students online as well. Tracking allows the teachers to run exams with high quality content that students love. Reports are also created in the software and parents can access their children's performance. Auralia and Musition are perfect for students of all ages and abilities. Auralia has a clean, easy to use interface designed to keep students focused on their essential ear training task.

Classics For Kids is a great website with fun activities and music resources for use in the classroom. Each month, they feature a different composer and provide activities, handouts, and listening maps that help students learn about various topics in classical music history. There are also online games for kids and lesson plans for teachers.

The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Kids website is a fun interactive website for students that allows for students to discover, listen, play, perform, conduct, and compose music through interactive activities and games.

Games, lessons, and information about classical and orchestral music for kids made available through the San Fransisco Symphony. Resources for teachers, parents, and students are also available. It is a flashed based platform so it may not work on some systems.

This website is all things oboe! Students and teachers can find valuable information about oboe repair, practice, and fingerings.

Resource designed for teachers and parents of oboists who are not strong in oboe. Includes practical resources to help students, repairs, tips for reeds, fingering charts, and more.

Band teacher who work with beginning students will find all the necessary videos, documents, and resources needed to inspire young musicians. This website is most relevant for educators who teach band and orchestra. 

Great recruitment site for beginning band students.

This resource can be used by directors to recruit and advocate for their programs. Directors can access and download videos that introduce students to different instruments and templates of documents to share with administrators and parents. Students may also be directed to the site and explore it individually, especially if they want to join an ensemble.

The official webpage for Music Educators in the State of PA. It has all the information that students, teachers and parents can use for their festivals.

Fantastic supplemental online resource for any of the EE method books. It allows students to practice along with customized accompaniments. Teachers can create assignments and students submit them through this platform.

Essential Elements Interactive is a website that pairs with the Essential Elements string method book. On this site, students can play exercises from the book along with accompaniment, track their practice time, and view assignments as well as a class calendar. The teacher and parents can communicate easily through this site as well.

The link to the program Essential Elements Interactive, a software that allows students to practice with play along tracks at varying tempos with or without melody. Students can record themselves multiple times and submit their favorite to the teacher for evaluation.
