The purpose of this website is to provide a young music student with resources to support music learning. The learning focuses mostly on recorder, pitch identification, and aural identification. Also, there are videos that are available for students to sing along. Overall the site is a kid-friendly that is easy to navigate. The website would be a good resource for recorder skills, aural skills and pitch identification. Elementary or beginning student would benefit from using the site.

SmartMusic has interactive, web-based editions of many popular instrumental, band, chorus, and orchestra method books, as well as a massive collection of sheet music. Students can listen, loop, record and submit pieces they are working on. A neat feature of SmartMusic is that students can click on a single note and hear how it is supposed to sound, and how to finger that note on their instrument. Students can adjust tempo, play with a metronome, use a tuner to check pitch, and more. A paid subscription allows teachers to create online classrooms for assigning and assessing work, and have access to the entire SmartMusic catalog.

Teachers can also assess students outside the school wall. Smart music is good for rehearsals because a student can rehearse at home when the teacher is listening in and correcting him/her from anywhere else. It is easy to access and a good resource for music classes.

The content included in this source is a subscription to a web-based service that allows students and educators access to sight-reading material, repertoire accompaniments, and method books. Could be useful for encouraging student practice

BrainPOP is a great site for video lessons on music. The videos are very basic in design with the elementary level in mind, but could be of good use for any introductory music course.

Resource for UF Masters in Music Education. BrainPOP is a fun interactive site for young students to take control of their own learning. It allows for students to learn about concepts and composers that most interest them. There is lessons embedded into the program as well as videos to go along.

League of American Orchestras is a site for educators, professional musicians and students can explore. Teachers can look at advocacy and the government to find out what is happening in legislation. There is a career center for teachers and professional musicians who are looking to perform. Everyone can learn about Learning and Leadership development of students and teachers. The Knowledge, Research and Innovation tab is great as it is the latest research happening. You can also find conferences, meetings, journals, conducting, composing and performing tab.

This site is a great resource for orchestra teachers. The purpose of this resource is to provide information about the current state of music programs and opportunities for orchestral students. The content of this site is mainly articles and registration links for different conferences. There are also links to webinars, fellowships, etc. as well as current issues revolving around orchestral music/education. Some sources particularly helpful for teachers are a link with interesting facts about orchestra and articles about how to reach out to bigger audiences. It offers a subscription for "Symphony" Magazine and provdes information about composing, conducting, and performing, all major elements or any music education program.

This website has resources for orchestra students. Students can find practice and performance tips, learn about local and famous orchestras and musicians, and find resources for their specific instruments.

Auralia is a comprehensive LMS of 43 topics for ages beginners to advanced in music aural theory. Instruction and testing is sequential and logical with a nonthreatening, easy to use interface. The student and/or educator set the pace of learning. Feedback is formative and immediate with questions that keep the student focused on the concept and aware of progress. Learning reinforced through repeated emphasis on hearing, seeing and notating the aural theory concept, e.g., intervals, chords, progressions.

This website teaches many music concepts. There is a free trial and then you can decide if you want to purchase it or not.

Carnegie Hall provides music educators with resources to use with students in K-5. There are various activities, exercises, class games, and assessments that incorporate songs, instruments, and various styles of music. Some concepts taught include rhythm, meter, form, pitch, expressive qualities, and overall performance. Activities and resources are categorized by appropriate grade levels. This website also links to other educational resources, programs, and opportunities that music educators can utilize to benefit themselves and their music students.

Music Teacher Tools & Resources is a resource for teachers in grades K-5 and includes lesson plans, assessments, listening examples, activities, and videos. The resources also integrate the elements of music with engaging activities. A wonderful resource to use and/or complement any lesson.

Each lessons comes with exercises that provide an opportunity for students to gain confidence with the concept at hand. Exercises can be personalized to the students knowledge and ability.

Musictheory.net is a free and powerful online resource for teachers who are looking lessons, student exercises or other learning tools. Teachers can browse various lessons that cover topics ranging from the basics of the staff to understanding complex time signatures. The lessons on this website can prove to be useful for all levels of music education.

Musictheory.net is a great resource for students to learn about music theory and explore learning more on their own. The lessons and exercises are well-crafted and of great quality. The recent addition of apps for lessons and exercises provides a great low-cost option for students to continue learning on their own, but also allows for classrooms to be equipped with the apps for low costs, assuming that iPads are available.

The graphics on this website are amazing- any child would enjoy browsing through and learning about musical instruments, composition, and composers. Also very neat is the game where you can "play" different musical instruments. The numbers on the computer keypad become notes in a scale!

This is owned and operated by the San Francisco symphony. It requires Adobe flash so desktop computers are suggested for use.

This is a website that i have used with my students, more so free time. Allowing to practice their skill but also have fun doing it as it relates to games. The purpose of this would be for students to explore having fun with music!.

Songfacts is a website that enables educators and students to learn the historical background of artists and their songs. There is a search engine that allows for an easy look-up of any artist, and accompanying this search is a timeline of major events, a brief history of the artist's life, and insight that the general public may not know about the artist. There is also research and insight about individual songs that the artist released or collaborated on. Songfacts can be a great resource to give more context about music that students are learning to in and out of class. It can engage students in listening to music more actively if they are intrigued about the artist's life, struggles, achievements, vision, and motivation for creation.

An interactive website for students to experiment learning and listening to songs, learn and play a conducting game, and compose. Great for individual computer time.

The San Francisco Symphony's purpose in creating this site was to compile a variety of interactive games and resources for kids to access and explore orchestral instrumentation and sound. There are engaging music activities for all ages and a calendar of events for live exploration and learning.

EduTech wiki is a music technology wiki featuring resources like music notation software suggestions, computer-based learning software, online interactive music learning services, and piano lesson software. It is a fairly new wiki, so information while good is limited.

This an article that was found on the guardian arguing the importance of music education in today's society. The author compares learning music to learning coding. This a great read.

The purpose of this page is to provide a Whiteboard resource with 10 excellent ways to incorporate the IWB into music lessons. Several of these ideas were new to me and I look forward to exploring them in my classroom.

Many of the ideas may be best suited for a general music classroom but can also be incorporated into rehearsal settings. IWBs can be used to teaching the reading and writing of music notation. The features of this online classroom are designed for learning, creating, and sharing music.

An excellent `learning management system designed for music educators. I would love to use this in place of Google Classroom.

Standards of Learning for the state that I teach in.  My county's curriculum content is based on the SOLs.  

This would seem to combine the use of vernacular music with guitar instruction. This is something that I will look into for my guitar students.
