The San Francisco Symphony kids website is filled with Fun & Games with music. Children will be able to listen, play, perform, conduct, and compose. This is a friendly and interactive way to engage youth.

Classics for Kids is a website featuring high quality weekly radio shows/podcasts about classical composers and their music. The service is provided by Cincinnati Public Radio. Excellent biographical information along with quality excerpts of composers' works are included. There is an extensive catalog of previous shows available for listening which are child friendly and is a great resource for music educators. The website also includes games and a section under the "For Grownups" tab for educators featuring music lesson plans.

Improvisation in Early Elementary General Music. This article explores how to improvise with your young students, starting with rhythm and then moving on to pitch. There are several singing games referenced with explanations on how to play and how to relate it to improvisation. This article breaks down the process of teaching improvisation and takes the initial fear out of it.

This website is a great resource for band students to better understand note names, fingerings, and musical terms.  It is structured as a flash card game.  Students are racing to get all answers correct and into the Top 50.  If students answer incorrectly, the correct answer is shown to help students learn the correct answer. Students must answer all questions correctly in a certain time to move on to the next level.

This website is speed game for reinforcing terms, note names, or fingerings for students. It can be specialized to different instruments and has an option for teachers to keep track of scores by school.

Music racer is a tool to help users practice their note names and/or fingerings. Users select which instrument they would like to practice, and are given eight questions per round. Scoring is based on both speed and accuracy.

PBS Kids' Chuck Vanderchuck is an amazing tool for teaching music genre and history. My students love it and ask for it year after year.

Chuck Vanderchuck is a fantastic resource for teaching students about different genres found in music (not just classical!). Kids love the different sounds that genre-based instruments make, fun catch phrases that Chuck repeats throughout the site, and different historical facts about how each genre originated. Students are invited to move to music, arrange their own combos with different instruments, and engage in memory games to help them learn the content provided.

This website includes information for Music History, Music Theory, pedagogy for instruments, music organizations, and music education conferences. Each source includes guides, activities, and blogs for the reader to navigate to a certain website or community, and reflect on what has been read or what is happening in the world of music.
