The Studio Jams youtube channel is a promo channel for the line of Studio Jams DVDS, but is filled with many modern covers of classic tunes, all played by professional musicians in a professional studio. A great resource for examples of jazz/fusion musicians really plying their craft.

This slow blues jam is a great resource for those teaching improvisation to beginners or demonstrating the skill to a class. The video is approximately 8 minutes in length allowing the listener/performer to repeat without having to start the video over once more.

PBS Kids' Chuck Vanderchuck is an amazing tool for teaching music genre and history. My students love it and ask for it year after year.

Chuck Vanderchuck is a fantastic resource for teaching students about different genres found in music (not just classical!). Kids love the different sounds that genre-based instruments make, fun catch phrases that Chuck repeats throughout the site, and different historical facts about how each genre originated. Students are invited to move to music, arrange their own combos with different instruments, and engage in memory games to help them learn the content provided.

This website allows students to experiment with different genres of music. It gives students a chance to have their own "jam session."

Along with his band-mate, Ramona and their dog Zepplin, the trio explore styles of music, compose songs, explore sounds, have jam sessions and allow an interactive inside look at famous musicians and composers in their locations around the globe. Builds music vocabulary, music history and overall exploration of various genres. Styles include: Salsa, Jazz, Country, Hip-Hop, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Classical, Reggae. Good with IWB. This site provides teachers and students with a rich history of jazz music. Teachers and students can find videos of jazz musicians, repertoire and resources for Jazz Appreciation Month and tips and tricks for teaching jazz concepts such as swing and improvisation.

Smithzonian Jazz has a vast resource of archives, recordings, timelines, lesson plans, and interactive resources support Jazz Education and Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM).

An online marketplace for teachers to buy and sell classroom resources. I have found many free and low cost worksheets, visuals and even lesson plans online. Resources include worksheets for pitch, rhythm, composers, specific songs, like the Star Spangled Banner and so much more. A valuable resource for a teacher who does not want to "recreate the wheel" OR who is creative and likes to "recreate the wheel" and earn a little cash doing it!

Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT), is a great resource for lesson plans, bulletin boards, and so much more! While most resources are free, some you do have to pay for.

This would be a great source for teachers who need the documentation for certain topics. This website provides every grade level, along with every subject being provided. There are lots of information on this source for free, and there are also many sources that are not free. But it depends on what you want or need. The purpose of this sources is to give teachers a wide range of things, that they may need in their classrooms.

This site has some great resources for ukulele and guitar learning in the classroom. These are free. The powerpoints are especially great because it is a step by step lesson to get students to play their instruments as quickly as possible (including little excerpts of songs in a different key). The rest of the site provides "easy" versions of popular songs for students to begin playing quickly. It was given to me in a conference session about using popular music to teach ukulele and guitar.

This nifty Facebook group asks its members to post a video of improvisation over any given tune. Many use backing tracks while others use rhythm sections or improv by themselves. The content usually ranges between jazz standards to contemporary pop artists. Comments and critiques are welcomed, but sometimes not requested.

Users are aware of the chord progressions that they are working with. They are not preset progressions. There is a great amount of creativity and independence in this program. This program can be used to kick start a compostion project.
