This informative website is designed to get young students interested in the arts, namely music, theater, and dance. Designed by Canada's National Arts Centre, the music section offers a wealth of information on composers, instruments, the orchestra, and other musical topics, with games and activities to deepen understanding. It also has separate pages for teachers, students, parents, and artists that have different resources.

The Children's Music Workshop website provides numerous resources for students, parents, and educators involved with band or orchestra.  It includes advocacy information for parents and helpful videos for students that show the basics of each instrument.  

This free site includes an on-line orchestration course and a free jazz arranging course. There are sample music libraries, a virtual instrument forum, Linux Audio and music discussions related to sound software and open source initiatives, a virtual piano forum, and many more topics for students and teachers.

This site is geared towards younger students and students who play orchestral instruments. It includes several music education games, a teachers guide for concerts, listening activities, famous composers and information about he Dallas Symphony Youth Orchestra.

This is a site that I use frequently. Not only does the site provide useful information regarding musical ensembles and private instructors for those who live within the institute's service region, but it also serves as a resource for videos and recordings of professional clarinet players students may use as models. Furthermore, the site contains a variety of sheet music for all band and orchestra instruments. Sheet music may be downloaded from the site, or entire libraries may be purchased on a CD containing pdf files. This site makes access to solo and other forms of music literature a breeze! 

Another document from Dr. William Bauer about making music with an iPad created by Dr. William Bauer for the International Society for Technology in Education on June 24, 2013. A tremendous resource for creating performing, understanding and responding to music with an iPad. Also, there are links for general administrative and productivity apps which are useful for other academic disciplines.  Additionally, there is a lot of information that is useful about hardware and connecting the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Great resource for using iPads in the music classroom, which is what is needed for me personally. 

This document comes from a Learning Station Session presented by Dr. William Bauer for the International Society for Technology in Education. The session centered around apps and tools that can be used on the iPad that match the music standards of creating, responding, and performing. The site contains a full list of apps and tools available for the iPad and they help make the iPad a music learning tool. 

Dr. Bauer provides a comprehensive list of programs and apps for the Ipad that can be used in the music classroom. These apps can provide ways to create music and transform the Ipad into an actual musical instrument. Dr. Bauer creates lists separated into apps that will create music, perform music, help with understanding music, ease administration, and other resources. This list cannot only help integrate technology into the classroom, but also show music in a different light.

Classic Cat is a resource website that provides educators and students with access to recordings of multiple classical music works.

ClassicCat is a website featuring free use MP3's of over a hundred different composers. These mp3's are available to anyone who clicks can play the files on their computer. This is a great resource not only for instrumental and choral capabilities, but for general music classes that need material for listening or comparison.

This website helps to assist teachers in finding example lesson plans for their subject matter.  The site also allows students to search and find a teacher for their instrument.  I would benefit from the lesson plans feature particularly for music theory.

This is part of a video series showing beginning instruction on each instrument. This is a great video to share with students (and parents) to help them out in the first few lessons. Some information needs to be explained more completely, but this provides good basic knowledge and helps students remember what was taught during lessons.

I really like the composer-related activities, especially when they related to recorder. I think that many times, students (and parents and classroom teachers) don't view the recorder as a real instrument. I think this is a great way to show them that they can play along with famous classical melodies. 

This website contains a link to a technological music instrument based on a synthesizer and weather sensors. The sensors transduce a variety of weather elements into electrical current that is interpreted by a synthesizer live all year long.

This could be good for small ensembles and combos. Creates a melody, harmony, and bass part customized to instrumentation needs. Also provides lyrics.

A great online resource for educators seeking a tool to help students gain fluency at sight reading music. This interactive tool allows for you to schedule assignments at customized levels as well a customized instrumentation.
