Google's tally of activity on "Google Plus-enhanced products," by contrast, suggests frequent activity on the network by at least 50 million people. But it includes activity on YouTube, the Android Marketplace and the Google search engine. Even if you don't have Google+, you probably spend a significant amount of time on these sites. In The Times article, Google defends its statistic by saying time spent on Google+ isn't reflective of how much the network is being used. Gundotra described the social network as "a social blanket that envelopes the entire Google experience."

Geez, if this is true it would really impact the mobile UX experiences that people will expect.

The Big Issue In The North, a U.K. magazine sold by homeless street vendors to give them a steady income, is launching a digital edition, alongside its print edition. If a customer wants the digital version street vendors will sell them an access card with a QR code plus one-off access code on it which will enable them to download the edition to their smartphones or tablet.

The new features, styled Search plus Your World, were announced on a blog post today and come in three prongs. The first is the inclusion of "personal results" in the return to search queries. These results are based on what a user has shared through pictures on Picasa and on Google+ posts.  The second item in Google's new bag of tricks is a new type of search results that can flush out friends who have common names.  The final new feature is called People and Places and aspires to offer a sense of community by returning a list of new connections in response to generic queries like "music" or "baseball." 

Plus accounts include one Facebook page and 500 image uploads per month for $5 monthly, while Pro accounts, at $20 per month, cover five Facebook pages and include unlimited images. ThingLink added that its users include Van Halen, Gucci Maine, Blink-182, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio), Canadian newspaper National Post, British comedian Alan Partridge, and the U.K. music weekly NME.
