La parte "open to everyone online" della petizione sarebbe più convincente se, nel post http://www.pro.europeana.eu/web/guest/protect-our-cef-funding dato come riferimento, i tre PDF d'approfondimento linkati rispettassero l'accessibilità e la fruibilità: - il migliore, quello della factsheet, offre sì una versione testo che si può leggere più o meno lineramente, copiare e dove si può fare ricerche, ma è sprovisto di navigazione interna; - la lettera collettiva a Nelly Kroes comprende anche una versione testo, ma fortemente imbordellata - la lettera di Racine è un PDF unicamente fotografico, quindi esclude i ciechi, è incopiabile, e non ci si può cercare cose. Un informatico francese che era stato coinvolto sia in Europeana sia in Gallica mi aveva spiegato che forse il più grosso ostacolo nei due progetti era l'incapacità totale di Jeanneney, allora capo della Biblioteca nazionale francese, di capire che per digitalizzare un testo, non basta farne uno scan fotografico e sbatterlo in un PDF, ma andava anche fatto il riconoscimento ottico dei caratteri per ottenere un testo vero da aggiungere allo scan per renderlo accessibile ai ciechi e fruibile da tutti. Ma vabbé, Jeanneney era il dinosauro tecnofobo che era, motivato alla digitalizzazione soltanto da un antiamericanismo becero, come si vede dalle sue dichiarazioni sulla digitalizzazione Google Books. Speravo che almeno Racine ci capisse un filino di più. Auguriamoci che il suo titolo di "Président de la fondation Europeana" lo riduca a un ruolo di mera potiche... Aggiornamento: noto adesso che la versione francese della petizione è addirittura intitolata "Pour que le patrimoine culturel européen reste accessible en ligne" - manquent pas d'air, ces frouzes...

Risposte molto lucide sulla situazione in mutazione dell'editoria e del diritto d'autore all'epoca digitale - molto di più, delle dichiarazioni di un'altra madrona dell'editoria, Teresa Cremisi, partita lancia in resta gridando "Cocoricò" contro Google Libri all'appello degli americanofobi francesi. Però anche Teresa Cremisi, salvo quella cantonata sul diritto d'autore, è una grande direttrice editoriale. Altre (tra quelle che ho conosciuto come traduttrice): Rosellina Archinto, Elvira Sellerio, Donatella Zigliotto. E nel giornalismo culturale, Rosellina Balbi. Hanno approcci molto diversi, dando ragione a Cristina Foschini nel dire "Non penso ci sia un approccio femminile al 'fare i libri'. Credo che l'editoria sia un lavoro terribilmente personale": però forse le accomuna una spiccata apertura a nuove voci, nuove vie.

Anche C. Kirch (docente di matematica, scuola superiore) è incredibilmente organizzata e spiega dettagliatamente cos'è la "flipped classroom". Il video introduttivo ha una versione sottotitolata in spagnolo (sotto quella in inglese). Raccomando però di dare un'occhiata anche alla lettera introduttiva ai genitori: in fondo ci sono i criteri di valutazione (tipicamente americani), che trovo utili per un confronto con il nostro sistema.

"...Teachable moments As is often the case in awkward cases - where the system does not quite work as intended - a few things can be drawn from this episode. YouTube's Content ID system - http://youtube-global.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/improving-content-id.html - is, in fact, intended to act as a buffer between the sometimes conflicting interests of content holders and uploaders: rather than forcing content holders to either ignore infringing content or go straight to a DMCA takedown notice. YouTube compares content that is uploaded to huge numbers of files of copyright works supplied by content owners, as do external agencies contracted to content owners. Content owners are able to set their own parameters, and determine what action YouTube should take - whether that is allowing, monetizing or blocking the content. One problem with this setup is that mechanical systems, while necessary to sort the vast amount of content being uploaded to YouTube and other video sharing sites every moment, are short on nuance. One can make assumptions and built rules based on quantifiable properties - if there are five minutes of rightsholder-owned content scattered across a 30 minute video, for example, that content is more likely to be being used for illustrative purposes in a review than uploaded in an infringing fashion - but ideas like fair use are generally decided by humans, and can only be approximated by mechanical systems. So, the rights holder, the agency pursuing monetization on the rights holder's behalf, the uploader and YouTube have connected but not identical interests. This may go some way to explaining the lacunae which took this example from a formality to a three-month epic. And, in this particular case, there are unusual elements - for example, the double claims, for first audiovisual and then visual content. The system is not intended to enable this kind of double jeopardy

Da lì, spiega come funziona il sistema YouTube che individua possibili violazioni di copyright ma consente anche di contestare tali individuazioni. Ci sono anche link alle fonti dirette. Cosa buffa: il caso reale riguarda il copyright di una serie TV intitolata "The Twilight Zone", l'area crepuscolare tra giorno e notte. Sono capitata su questo articolo cercando di capire se un episodio del 1960 di questa serie era ancora sotto copyright oppure era caduto nel pubblico dominio. Prima avevo provato con lo strumento Digital Copyright Slider dell'associazione delle biblioteche US - http://librarycopyright.net/resources/digitalslider/ - che aveva cautamente risposto "Forse", con una nota che spiegava che dipendeva se il copyright originale era stato rinnovato, e link a lunghi e complessi documenti su come fare per scoprirlo... quindi sono tuttora nella "Twilight Zone" in merito.

Io in effetti ho usato wikispaces fin ad ora a titolo personale http://limfab.wikispaces.com/ ,prima di passare più o meno tutto il materiale del wiki al sito web http://limfabweb.weebly.com/ (nella assurda illusione di completare qualcosa...) e appena potrò (famosa frase...) mi riprometto anche di ritornarci su. Come wiki per le classi ho usato invece Pbworks http://fabriziobartoliworkspace.pbworks.com/w/page/63273860/FrontPage, sopratutto l'anno passato, cercando di integrarlo con Google apps/drive che uso come piattaforma principale di condivisione. Ho incrociato qualche webinar su wikispaces classroom e così mi è venuta voglia di provare anche questo. Magari possiamo trovare il modo di usare qualche pagina insieme, con qualche classe, anche se all'atto non ho idea di cosa insegni (io insegno inglese scuola media)...
