The latter will do a variety of things depending on their needs, moods, emotions, and understanding of what is happening and acceptable and important. When the human beings start using the technology, failure becomes a problem that must be managed. As most anyone who has had their email hacked can tell you, the weakest link in any security system is usually the humans. And sometimes the humans leave the door wide open, in part because they don't understand how to close it, don't care enough about closing it, or think the IT folks are just jerks for demanding it be checked so often.

Interesting article on why content is not the important thing in a blog anymore, but how you market and promote it is, as well as the strategy you have mapped out to continuously engage those who have signed in as members or customers.

Great blog by Nick Bilton in the Sunday NYTimes July 16, 2014 about how social media sucks us in to spend a lot of time on it. Although there isn't data as such, scientists are beginning to wonder if this diversion of our time sucks creativity too. The author ends the piece by saying instead of spending the first hour of the day on social media, he has been reading a book and finding it much more satisfying, enlightening, and stimulating.

Women using online dating services "out" men who are harassing them with explicit, ugly messages, especially on Tinder and OKCupid. They post the messages on either instagram, twitter, their dating site profile, or other places and not only stop or greatly reduce harassment, but attract men who want to get to know them better. A new problem for the modern age.

As tweet mobs become more prevalent, and more and more people have experienced cyberbullying, a new conversation about cyber civility is starting to take hold, from Monika Lewinsky on TED to the aftermath of Justine Sacco's tweet and the apology to her from her "outer" Sam Biddle, thinking more about responses is necessary.

Cybermobs on twitter are like feeding frenzies, with those participating not thinking or wanting to be mean, but losing all feeling of empathy for the victim.

Magazine article by Jon Ronson on the Justine Sacco twitter fiasco resulting in her firing. Ronson chronicles many other incidents of cyber twitter mobs turning on people, getting them fired, and making personal attacks. Casual tweeting with dire consequences.

Maria Perez, in this article on 4/23/15 from the Stanford Social Innovation Review blog, states that by 2043 the US will be a "minority" nation, and the Latino population will increase by more than 100% between now and 2060 when one in three people will be Latino. As a result of this, she argues that it is time to embrace the idea of new integration models that will increase Latino college graduation rates, wealth, income, representation in all professions, boards of directors, gov't, and business. The article goes on to describe what these integration models could be.
