Why does apple rank low for being green? Because of their huge electricity consumption and the increase in their consumption in a new facility, which consumes approximately the same amount of electricity 80,000 US homes. Which companies are fairly green? Yahoo, Google and Amazon. Why don't companies want to disclose their energy consumption? They don't want others to know what they did or what they had to do to reach to the position they are in now. Is cloud computing green? No, it's not green as it already accounts for approximately 2& of the world's electricity consumption, and it is predicted that it will rise. Determine if use of IT often reduces environmental impacts or not. Yes it does, because if something was electronically saved, it can save paper. Moreover, It has been said that there are less carbon emissions produced when music is downloaded of the web, rather than bought in CD stores, because you don't need to use CDs.

The sensors can measure and communicate location, movement, vibration, temperature, humidity, even chemical changes in the air. How has data-driven decision making improved productivity? Data-driven decision making has improved productivity because people collect as much as data they can before deciding. As people doing that, they can predict preference of consumers from the Internet. It is very useful because people don't have to spend much time on consumers' preference also, a small amount of money and time will be spent. How is Big Data transforming the way social networks function? Social networks websites such as Facebook and Twitter and Search engines like Google and Answer.com make profit with their users' data. Many companies will buy the users' data from Facebook, Google, Answer.com and Twitter. That's a way to earn money for social network websites.

How Google could have made the Web secure and failed -- again | Common Sense Tech - CNE... - 1 views

    Describe IT Jason Oct 4

Google have transfer you automatically to its "encrypted" service, one designed to prevent potential "eavesdropping" on your searches. Google have use SSL( secure socket layer) to protect your search. Is can also be use when you are logging on to your bank account online. Google have introduce the SSL search, with the SSL search you can do your searches on Google with more secure and you are in private so no one can see what are you searching. Before Google URL was HTTP/www.google.com but now it is HTTPS/www.google.com. Its secure now. Google have use SSL to help protect your data from unwanted access. So what you are connected to internet café, local hotspots or hotel your data will be secure. But Google is not responsible for any viruses you get over the internet searches. The SSL will only protect your personal information.

Buyers who buy box of detergent, and users of technologies and companies like Unilever, Google, Microsoft and Apple 3. Identify and describe one ITGS social/ethical concern in the article. The main concern in this article is privacy. The article shows the detergent company detects their consumers who bought products with GPS for their event prize. It means, this intrusive behavior can find where you live where you go if you become the target. Besides, Google or other social networking site also makes use of people's personal information without their consent. This truly destroys your privacy, the right to decide how much information you will show to others. Furthermore, there is possibility that somebody gets your information from these companies and give harm to you, such as robbing your house 4. Describe ITGS terminology and systems. GPS- space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites social networking site- a platform to build social networks or social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections. 5. Describe the solution stated in the article or find a solution to the concern (issue) discussed in the article. One solution to stop these intruders in your life is enacting strict laws that companies can't detect where their customers live and get the consent if they use the information. Government should protect citizen's privacy from danger. Companies should get consent if they want to use customer's private information, and if customers don't want it(such as stoking customer's house) they must stop to intrude other's privacy.

Discuss at least one problem that relates to the impacts of the social/ethical issue. The problem here is that all of the 10 most popular applications on Facebook were transmitting unique user ID numbers to outside companies which violates Facebook's policy: data received from Facebook, including UIDs, cannot be shared with data brokers and ad networks. 7. Evaluate one solution that addresses the problem identified. Facebook user should have a choice on whether or not to allow applications to get their UID. Facebook should also tighten their policy and make it harder for Ad networks to share UID with third party applications.

Wooh How might the internet be useful for the Egyptian citizens? What does it mean "bring down Egyptian websites"? Feb 4
  •
    1. How might the internet be useful for the Egyptian citizens? Egyptian citizens, especially for the protesters, have organized the initial protests against the government online, through social media such as Facebook groups. The restored Internet would allow them to use to do so again and other citizens are now back to their computers and can have regular socialization online. A main ways of communication with the outside world as well as with themselves, Internet would allow the citizens to join together through websites on the internet to create groups that support what they think is best for them. In this case, they want a reelection from their current leader. 2. What does it mean "bring down Egyptian websites"? "Bring down Egyptian websites" means to stop access to those Egyptian websites through means such as having a DoS attack on the website. Also hackers can hack into the website and destroy the coding and content of the website and thus "bring down" the websites. Bringing down Egyptian websites can also mean that they are blocking all access to Egypt because there wouldn't be any portal into Egypt if all the Egyptian websites are brought down.

IP address : An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is usually a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Sources : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address iOS : iOS is Apple's mobile operating system. It was originally developed for the iPhone, and it has extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPod touch, iPad and Apple TV. Geohot : George Hotz, known for working with other people to unlock the iPhone, allowing the phone to be used with other wireless carriers. 5. If possible, describe a solution to the concern (issue). There is no possible solution because even if Sony gets hold of all IP addresses, there will be alternate ways for users to still access GeoHot's websites and videos. The tablets that offer internet as well as phone features play an important role in making the system work. The tablets offer a larger screen for the access compared to mobile phones, and it is challenging business companies and sites to remake their site into different various resolutions to fit all the new screen sizes. This affects the software of the program as well as the use of internet to connect to these sites. These sites offer personal and public communications through sites like Facebook. Social Networking - the grouping of individuals who have joined together to form a virtual community or neighborhood subdivision. What does cloud computing deal with? Cloud computing deals with all the technology and support for the infrastructure of the cloud such as networking, database, storage, and management applications. Describe each of the characteristics cloud services must have. Fshared services (with standard framework and shared application programming interface (API)) - these services can be shared in order for all users to have access to them. Fstandard user interface - Web browsers to have access to the cloud services. Fself-service - Users must help themselves by self service when it comes to doing cloud services since actions are carried over the computer, not from human to human. Fservice metering - The Charge of the usage of the cloud services. Faccess over the internet - The medium of having access to the internet, as well as other places over the internet. Explain horizontal and vertical services. Horizontal Services - cloud applications, cloud storage, cloud servers, and cloud collaboration. These horizontal services are the services that are spread around horizontally as the infrastructure, and the base of the cloud service. It provides the technology and memory for clouds for example. Vertical Services - government services, cloud entertainment, cloud publishing and online ad networks, cloud healthcare, and cloud telecommunications. These vertical services are basically what we use the cloud services for, which field they are in, and how they are used. Define each layer of services. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) - This is a service usually from outsourcing done by an organization so that the actual infrastructure to hold the storage, hardware, and other components are stored elsewhere. Why is bandwidth important? Internet bandwidth will drive the popularity of cloud services in the country, as businesses and consumers will demand more services as bandwidth increases. Speedy network reliability is needed for "megabit-per-second" services.
