"Mapping Main Street is a collaborative documentary media project that creates a new map of the country through stories, photos and videos recorded on actual Main Streets. A small JISC grant has enabled a group of us to give public access tohistorical maps from the National Library of Scotland and Landmark (OSmaps).  The maps centre around Edinburgh but there is also a map from 1890 forLondon. It's a free app for the iPhone at the moment and if we have enoughsuccess we're hoping to encourage Landmark to release the maps for theentire UK. We'd appreciate any thoughts or comments from the museum group.

I've been building a site in my spare time for a friend - it is called The Last Survivors, and focuses on two particular species that are facing extinction. One of the requirements was for the editors of the site to be able to add results from their surveys of these species quickly to a Google Map for embedding in the website. Nothing particularly new in the build there, but I wanted to make sure that the workflow was as seamless as possible and at the same time keep the dev work to a minimum.

Based on the semantically-enriched data model, we have implemented three different components/tools in the CHIP demonstrator: Artwork Recommender, web-based virtual Tour Wizard and PDA-based Mobile Tour. (i) Artwork Recommender. a Web-based rating dialog for artworks/topics to build a user profile, based on semantics-driven recommendations. (ii) Tour Wizard. a Web-based tool using the user prole to generate (semi)automatically personalization virtual museum tours for each user.
