Point Of Sale Gets An iPad Makeover - 1 views

  •
SalonPOS is setting the trend in utilizing the point of sale specially created for Ipad. This is following on apple's POS system created for Old Navy last year. SalonPos thought it beneficial to focus on a system for spas as most of the focus is usually on restaurants and perhaps other retail business forgetting that spas and wellness centres are becoming a large revenue generator and growing rapidly. SalonPro system for Ipad is entering the market at a very reasonable cost. The entire system including Ipad retails for under US$2,000.00. The system provides flexible access for manager to monitor business remotely. This POS system does not have much more capabilities than the traditional POS system except that 3G and Wi-Fi are included. A very good feature of the system is also that the Ipad includes close circuit camera that will allow managers to keep tract of activities even remotely. This will also be introduced to the Iphone later this year. SalonPro back up can be done on property as well as through iCloud with full access to apple updates. Though Salon Pro is not offering much more in terms of software capabilities to the spa system, it will be a good move to introduce this into the operations. Mobile check out where a guest does not have to go to a reception desk to sign out is also great. This will also give the spa an image of technological competence.
  •
The iPad POS is a great innovation for the salon. I believe that it can be used very successfully for many businesses that rely on personal interaction; the best example would be hotels. An iPad check-in system would be a great integration that eliminates paperwork, cables, keyboards, mouse, etc. Since the iPad and Mac sofware are very user-friendly to operate, trainings costs could also be easily reduced.

This is a great article about relatively new point-of-sales systems, that are implemented in a number of places worldwide. You walk in a mall, scanning stuff, getting your groceries and the devise is offering you recipes with the food you're getting. The other trend is social POS. Cloudtise Partners with Revel Systems to Provide Innovative Cloud Advertising | Virtual... - 0 views

  • This partnership will allow Cloudtise to integrate their innovative cloud advertising system with Revel Systems’ iPad POS, helping gain valuable information about client trends.
  • Revel Systems iPad POS provides a API that Cloudtise can pull data it needs to create adds in real time for that locaized area.
  • Cloudtise will then provide that information to merchants, so they can target their ad campaigns not only to a demographic but to a local audience that is more likely to shop with them and be in the store’s area.
  •
This article is really interesting because it incorporates two concepts that we have touched on in class, cloud systems and Points of Sale (POS) systems. Cloudtise, is a type of cloud advertising service that is part of the new online marketing trend that allows businesses use real time data for advertising to consumers. Its versatile form allows both users and consumers to instantly update and gather information. By partnering up with Revel System's cloud based Apple iPad POS system, it will help businesses obtain data about client trends. The coalition enables Cloudtise to mold their data based on the geographical area and use data to create ads in real time for specific areas. Using the POS system, Cloudtise will be able to give businesses information so that they can target ads to demographics in local and specific areas that are the most likely to buy the products. Businesses will be able to track inventory levels, customer characteristics, and details from local competitors that will boost their knowledge of what products sell best and to whom. The overall advantage will be providing information what advertising campaigns work and which do not. I think this is a great way for businesses to gain a competitive advantage in their market because consumers are moving toward an instant gratification plane, where they expect products and services immediately. Using cloud and POS systems as an advertising tool will enable users to specifically target consumers and adapt to them instantly.

  • “We needed to upgrade our POS and wanted to leverage the cloud to have one point of contact
  •
With the pass of time technology keeps improving, allowing entrepreneurs to find loop-holes or ways of creating/using new systems to improve service and productivity. For years restaurants have been doing business the same way. It's time to improve this, by allowing certain "gadgets" and systems to facilitate both, your job (as owner) and employees. The previous article mentions POS integration as a "must-have" in restaurants. Although it helps the operating side and the customer-facing side, it takes time and money to allow the integration between systems. The new issue is that before an integration was merely impossible, since the API's didn't communicate well or at all with other systems, thus restaurant owners had to stay with the same vendor because the system only worked with them. It was less the hazzle than trying to find/have different vendors for each aspect. Nowadays, API's are commonly known to synchronize well with others, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, among others. Having said that, large POS companies believe this change, of public API's, will make them change their business to allow what newer companies are already doing. Lastly, cloud technology has allowed for this integration to be successful, since it's "making the prospect of integration easier for operators as more owners are looking to above-property hosting systems", because of its "one-point contact" with other systems (all in one, with less than half the time and work than before).

The article talks about how restaurants can use a POS system and reviews the pros and cons of whether a system like this is beneficial to an establishment. It states that customer service plays a huge role in the success of a business and having a well operational POS system aids in the success of the customer service offered. One example of being more successful is to be sure you can accommodate as many customers as possible… so offering the payment option of just cash limits your projected revenue whereas accepting credit cards broadens your horizon as a business owner. Saving on merchant fees may be hurting income all together. This article goes over the benefits of a POS system and how it can improve daily sales. These benefits include a quicker processing of payments, more accurate payments, splitting orders, opening the door to more customers, preventing errors and tracking inventory. All of these things assist in the accuracy and smooth running of an establishment.
  •
Hello, This article is very insightful with regards to how a POS system can become beneficial. Indeed, customer service plays a major role on the business and having a well-positioned POS system. Therefore, as a hotel or a restaurant needs to focus on service, a POS system can complement this objective. Being able to accommodate as many clients as possible through great customer service and organization can be obtained through a POS system. Additionally, I think this system helps maximize time and optimize processes. I'm sure a wide array of companies are appealed to this, it is a matter of finding which type of POS system would be most suitable for them.
