VingCard Elsafe Captures the "Essence" of HITEC 2012 with Successful Launch o... - 0 views

  • VingCard Elsafe, the global leader in hospitality security and part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, again captured the attention of hotel technology professionals last month, with the successful introduction of its latest hotel locking innovation
  • Essence not only eliminates a visible lock reader on the door exterior, creating a cleaner aesthetic in the hallway, but also eliminates bulky hardware on the interior of the door, making it more secure and visually appealing from inside the guestroom, as well.
  • “It served to confirm that our projections of where hotel locking technology is heading for the future are accurate, and that the market is continuing to embrace the trend toward minimalism in design, as well as RFID and NFC technologies, which we have incorporated into this new locking platform.”
  •
Ok so this is where technology and design are coming together featuring a brand new innovation in the lock world. There is no visible , physical site of a lock on either the outside or the inside of the door. The technology is being run off of RFID (radio frequencies) . No more , hard key or even inserting a key. This technology was just showcased in August 2 at the worlds largest technology show.

  •  MICROS eCommerce, a subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), an leading interactive marketing company for hospitality and travel, is pleased to announce that Strategic Hotels & Resorts has retained MICROS eCommerce to develop and launch a series of tablet specific websites later this summer.
  • The new websites will feature a dynamic visual format, intuitive layout and focus on hotel and area amenities, such as the luxurious rooms, spas, restaurants, bars, banquet/meeting facilities and other features found at Strategic Hotels & Resorts' high-end hotels.
  • "As technology continues to shape how consumers interact with our luxury hotel brands, our partnership with MICROS eCommerce has enabled us to stay top of mind with our discerning and tech-savvy customer base,"
  •
I'm not quite sure what the website will look like or how it will communicate with micros (PMS) but it sounds like its a step in the direction of web  based PMS system. I thinking in the near future we will be seeing front desk agents checking in customers with iPads and not standing behind big front desk.Micros Ecommerce sounds like the platform that will provide this move to mobile front desk agents with web based PMS systems.

KELOLAND.com | Hotel Uses New Technology To Clean Rooms - 0 views

  • The goal is to have the cleanest hotels in the nation. And to do that, Best Western is using two new gadgets.
  • And the new wands and flashlights have paid off.  During the past two health inspections, Best Western Empire Towers has scored a perfect 100.
  •
I guess not everything has to do with the bottom line. Best Western Hotel chain is trying to become the cleanest hotel on the market. I say " good for them and better for the customer who stays at Best Western Hotels". This attention to detail is where the energy should be focused in the housekeeping department and not just how many rooms a room attendant can clean in a 8 hour shift.Hopefully this attitude towards cleanness becomes a standard in the industry. Technology sometimes is a blessing.

  • 6) RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
  • 7) Energy management systems
  • 8) Guest sensors that monitor when a guest enters and leaves so that lights and other technology in the room can be switched on and off accordingly.
  •
I was really surprised when I read this list of high technology enhancement because the hotel I work in already has all these features. I guess just as in life you can take things for granted and working at a 4 star hotel maybe I took it for granted myself. There must be thousands of hotels out their that don't offer these features, Marriott is a huge company and its nice to know they are up to date with the latest technology. This list I assume is the norm in 4 star hotels and probably in the near future will be the norm in all hotels.
