As per the article, it has been realized that self-service KIOSKS have had one of the largest investment in any category YTD. The design of the restaurants haven't even caught up with this and the open spaces could still be used for something else. The staff are being cut or used in different ways and new budget and planning will be out for sure by year end to save even more money and make it more profitable. Tableside ordering is another hot topic as many restaurants are feeling this out too. In Asia, this has been ongoing for a while now. Since China went "cash-less", there are so many ways to implement this. I went to a restaurant recently in north-eastern China and they didn't even offer a menu. Everything was seen, ordered, and paid by their APP. The question is if there is no service, will there be no tipping? Hot topic.......

This hotel, opened in the city of Hangzhou, China, is trying to play with a new trend of full automation pertaining to guests. They take AI to another level in the hospitality field and the rates go to that level also. Average room rate is $200 USD and that is high for a country with fairly average rates.
Cleaners are human and so should the Fire Life Safety department. They are going in this direction as it is a tech company running a very personal and intimate experience such as a hotel. Some things can be automated but not all. And guests don't want to talk to robots. They want to talk to people first. -

This is my last company. They were quite forward thinking. The robot takes an elevator by itself and also delivers bottles of water and asks if anything else is needed.

This app runs our personal and professional lives here in the "middle kingdom". I don't need a wallet, I don't need a laptop anymore. I don't even need to use my phone to call anymore. I need mobile connectivity and a smartphone and you can do everything you want without doing too much in China. -
That is the benefit to the government of China. They monitor the entire site all the time. All information shared is monitored and it will soon be integrated into the "social system" of the country where good citizens are rewarded with better benefits and poorly behaved citizens are penalized. It seems extreme but when all the information is on one platform, it is easier to do this monitoring. I don't think the normal citizens even care or think about this to actually be the future. But the government has been talking about this for years. For advertisers, it is a dream to have all of this information in the palm of their hands.
