It also gives an insight on how people who are diagnosed with ADHD act in different settings. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article definitely made my knowledge of ADHD a lot broader. Credibility of Source: This article seems to be credible.

This article was an interview with Susan Smalley, Ph.D., is a professor in the department of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles, Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and director of its Mindful Awareness Research Center. How this influenced my thinking: I was fascinated to find out about some of the environmental factors that show increased lecels of ADHD. Credibility: I'm on the fence. The doctor seems credible, but I am not sure about the writer.

Title: Suicidal Thoughts More Common in Kids With Autism: Study Date: 3/21/2013 Author: Amy Norton Why relevant and summary: This article reports on the findings of a scientific study published on the "Research in Autism Spectrum disorders" journal, that children on the spectrum have a higher chance of contemplating or thinking about suicide than their typical peers. This is especially pronounced in those families where the mothers are depressed as well and bulling happens in school. The author reports on both sides which support and are against such findings. How has this changed my thinking: As a mother of a child on the spectrum I am really concerned and interested in finding out how this disorder will affect him, as he grows and what can i do to help. Source credibility: This article was published on an online news magazine and reports findings published in an academic journal.

Title: Parenting Styles Author: Rose Allen, Joan Sprain Date Published: 2009 Why Relevant and Summary: It is relevant because it talks about the four different parenting styles that there are out there. and how to deal with them. There are four main parenting styles that are out there and each child was parented by at least one of them. How this influenced my thinking: It made me realize that there are more parenting styles out there than what how my parents parented me. It makes me happy that my parents parented me the way they did because i do not like the other type of parenting styles. Credibility of SOurce: It is from the University of MInnesota and was revised about four times by different people.

How This Influenced My Thinking: This helped back-up my ideas. Credibility of Source: It seems credible. It has all the sources and links they used on the bottom of the page, as well as on the images and videos used.

Title: Baby Brain Food Author: None Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: Provides information on optimal nutrition for healthy brain development in infants. Though this particular article focuses on nutrition that is beneficial for the brain, the website as a whole places an emphasis on helping parents to raise bright, intelligent kids from a very early age. How This Influenced My Thinking: It emphasized how even the simplest of activities makes an imprint on a baby's mind. Credibility of Source: good. Has world-wide influence.

How This Influenced My Thinking: Gave an overview of bullying that confirmed things I saw with my own children while they were in elementary school. Credibility of Source: Very Good.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It identified a significant factor that explains why some kids succeed. That factor is resilience. Credibility of Source: High

Why relevant and summary: This webpage discusses how both boys and girls reach puberty and what their physical changes are. They elaborate on how a girl start her menstrual cycle and why it is important for them not to engage in adult activities such as sex. How this influenced my thinking: this article further strengthened my knowledge on the subject. Credibility: this was from a government webpage.

Author: Elizabeth Weil Date Published: March 30th, 2012 Why Relevant and Summary: It goes through the very basic changes that are seen in puberty, but it's discussing these changes happening in very young girls. In this article, they describe the situation of a little girl in the first grade! How This Influenced My Thinking: Made me aware of what I was consuming and how I may decide to raise my children. It is concerning that there's a possibility of "outside" estrogen causing this early onset of puberty. It's also interesting that we do not note this trend in boys. Credibility of Source: Good - NY Times is very popular. The article contains advice from a variety of doctors and professionals.
