This article touches on a very important topic about whether technology is helping the economy and job markets more or if it is in fact hurting it. The answer is they do both. The New York Times among others write that tech companies have created relatively few jobs compared to industries such as GM. However TechCrunch argues that technology has created a lot more indirect jobs due to technology. There are in fact new jobs created such as social media marketers online. Most of these jobs are part-time because they are online and connect employers and workers with no hassle. Their conclusion is that there are millions of jobs created with a high demand but an unprepared workforce. The jobs that are needed now are more technology based than ever before and our economy is moving so fast in that direction that some skills that were needed in the past are no longer needed now. Therefore people are losing jobs not because there are not enough jobs produced but because our job market is drastically changing.  Some companies are allowing people to step into job positions with just a bit of online training or courses. Startups like General assembly are creating programs that are accessible to everyone and helps address the needs of the labor market. The final verdict is we need better training tools to quickly acquire high demanded skills and help workers adapt to the change that technology brings to the labour market. This article (written by Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai) is an interesting analysis of a general trend in the tech industry and demand for people with coding experience. The article states that now is the best time to dive in to coding because it has never been cheaper/easier to do so, with the introduction of Codeacademy - used in ICS20 - in early 2012. In less than 5 months, Codeacademy had stated that it reached over 1 million registered accounts, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Many web-based companies, even the titans that are Facebook and Google, are always looking for people with coding experience. Jobs in programming are also more lucrative than most jobs, even at entry level positions (15 of 21 San Fransisco Developer Bootcamp students were offered jobs in coding, with an average annual pay of $79 000.) The industry is severely lacking in female programmers as well, with only 1:10 ratio of women to men in the industry. This relates to Economics, eLifestyle and ultimately the ISC20 class because as the industry develops, there will be a higher demand for people with experience in coding; 2012 has been widely concerned as the best year for coding because many people who start coding now will most likely be secured for a positon right out of University, which can be very securing to young people who may not be sure of their future. Evidentally, the title says it all; if you are looking for a job, it would be wise to pick up coding because this a newly establihed market; most jobs in computers didn't exist twenty years ago so many people believe that coding will eventually become a societal necessary education, like math or grammar skills. RIP Steve Jobs. Stay hungry, stay foolish. Anyways, Sony optioned the biography of Steve Jobs' by Walter Isaacson and are now looking for a writer. Their hopes lie within Aaron Sorkin, acclaimed producer and screenwriter. Apparently, Sorkin actually knew Jobs. That should make the movie THAT much better. Most recently, Sorkin penned the script for The Social Network, so he knows a little something about Silicon Valley. Long live Steve Jobs' legacy, and stay foolish people.

We now see what Steve Jobs was truly like, what kind of a man he really was. The authorized biography of the genius's life by Walter Isaacson quickly rose to the top of the charts after being released on Monday, and many are finding it hard to resist. This biography unveils many a thing about Steve Jobs that the general populace might not have known before. For instance, and this is really weird, Jobs believed that deodorant was useless, and his vegan diet would make him smell nice enough. Huh. Well, geniuses usually have quirks. But, after all the contributions he made to the world of technology and advancements, has it any meaning that he didn't use any deodorant? Weird, but still. Once again, so long, and farewell, Steve Jobs. 

This article i found is very interesting. It explains to us how people will begin to see many jobs being taken by machines and robots. An example of this given in the article is that Google is making self driven cars which may seem good but many jobs need people driving the cars themselves, like truck drivers and taxis. If vehicles could drive themselves many if not all of the people that drive vehicles will be out of work. Another example is the car insurance companies will charge more for vehicles that are driven manually which will make other companies either have this new technology on there cars or risk going out of business. The article also states that Moore's Law is now going faster and we can see these changes happening sooner. This new change will be great for many computer programmers or similar jobs but other people will have trouble finding a jobs

This article talks about a lot of jobs related to social networking and amount of salary they are paid every year. This shows the social impact of social networking on our society because social networking is a big part of our society that there are so many jobs that deal with that. In the past, there were barely any jobs related to social networking. There is a pie graph that shows all the different jobs related to social networks and how much they are paid in each province in U.S. I thinks this would be a great help to teenagers who are interested in the social network systems because now they can look for careers that they might find interesting and work toward to achieve it because not many people know about the jobs that deals with social networking and they have hard time looking for something they can do but this article could help them.

He mentions something about Hewlett Packard, as he stated that they had created such an excellent company, but now it's being dismembered and destroyed, and he didn't want that to happen to Apple the same way. Companies often look for thoughtfully written cover letters, as a method of screening applicants who lack the necessary skills or interest for the said position. Cover letter can thus form into a marketing vehicle for any prospective job seeker.

This article states that you have to be careful when you are looking for a job that lets you work from home because scammers make fake websites to get valuable information from you. For example the company CNBC website has been copied to http://cnbc.com-index.in. The URL is .in and not .com that is one way to know that the website is a fraught it should be .com. People who have gone to this copied websites to apply for a job have been asked very personal questions such as are you married, bank information, and to pay a fee for a company laptop. You should be suspicious if your contact for the job has an email of @gmail.com or @hotmail.com usually companies have their specific email. To avoid this scam always Google the company and your contacts email. Always have an opened eye to URL's and what the job application is asking for. I choose privacy and security as my tag because these scammers can get a lot of information from and start maxing out your credit cards and take money out of your bank account. In my opinion the government should step in and start watching out for theses fake websites and take them down of the internet or block them.  

i chose video game designer because i love playing video games, when i play video games i always come up with ideas to try to improve the game. i also think this job is amazing because you get to design your own game which i always wanted to do all my life. This job will never get boring for because i am gonna be designing video games all day, and i will highly enjoy that. This is also a good job because i get use my mind to create a game that i want and think all the focused audience would want. i always wanted to create a games because ever since i was a kid i enjoyed coming up with a good idea for a video game. this a job i highly recommend for creative people. In the recent weeks, it seems to be the societal trend to chastise Apple Inc. for their mistakes, the most recent of them being their native iOS 6 'Maps' application. Earlier in the week, CEO Tim Cook published a letter on the Apple website apologizing for the poor quality of the app, saying that "At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment." However, this is not a first for Apple admitting their mistakes and apologizing; one example is in June of 2012, Bob Mansfield (SVP) expressed remorse for Apple's withdrawal of the EPEAT rating system, which ensured the company met an eco-friendly standard. They later recanted their actions and went back on to the rating system. Many people attribute Apple's recent downfall to the shift of power from Steve Jobs to Tim Cook. Apple has also come to fire for their general decreasing of employees per Apple store to increase profitability, their standalone podcast app and ultimately the widely regarded inadequate 'Siri', supposedly improved in iOS6. This relates to the tag 'eLifestyle' because when Apple limits the users experience by introducing faulty software and refuses to adress things because of pride, evidently the customers suffer. This relates to 'Environment' because of Apple's debacle with the EPEAT, and society's increasing desire for products that are eco-friendly, and Apple's supposed "higher environmental standards" that they operate under. Legally, Apple has actively been taking and giving lawsuits over the past years, including Samsung and Adobe (a lawsuit directly following Steve Jobs' choice to abandon flash on iOS devices.) This article talks about some businesses that now only hire non-smokers. This article states that this is the new trend among North American employees. This new hiring practice has slashed in half the cost of employee health benefits compared to five or six years ago which means that businesses will save a lot of money. Smokers cost more money, miss more workdays and have more health problems which is why businesses don't like to hire them. Some people think that they shouldn't be excluded as long as they do their job and isn't going to help them end their addiction. This article relates to the tag economics because it doesn't allow non-smokers to work therefore limiting the amount of people that would apply for a job. This is a downside because if not many people apply for a job and if some of those applicants were smokers, less people would be able to take up that occupation.

In the 2000's. enrollment in computer science at UNB was cut in half, creating a need for more graduates for computer science. There were "More job than graduates from computer science programs." Recruiters were sent out to try to convince more students to join into computer sciences, even as young as grade five, trying to explain the simplicity and importance of computer science. Since then, the efforts of the recruiters boosted the numbers up by 47%. This relates to the tag "careers" because it shows the sudden need for computer science graduates due to the large sum of jobs in computer sciences. There is a high need for this through the 2000's and is likely still in need today. Though this "crisis" was averted, is there still a possibility that this may happen again, and is anyone prepared? In my opinion, if it does happen again we should be ready for this problem, since it will send out more possibilities for jobs.
