    1. My favorite work was "A&P". It is a short story that is very appealing to the teenagage brain becaquse it is based on a comment issue for us.. having a crush. We can relate to it unlike a short story like "The Open Boat"
    2. The assignment that meant the most to me was the 50 word short stories. It got me to really think about the topics that i was writing about, and to also be extra picky with my word choice! i enjoyed the challenge of being limited with my words.
    3. Poetry Out Loud and Where I'm From both taught me about confidence. Poetry out loud taught me that i have the confidence to present and deliver in front of my peers and really "get into it" with without being judged. Where I'm from taught me to have the confidence about writing about what i come from.
    4. 5 paragraph essays taught me how to be a critical thinker. When i had to edit my own papers i had to be very critical of my writing in order to actually make changes.
    5. i definitely became a speaker through poetry out loud! :)
    6. I still need to improve with my skills of being a writer. That is definitely always my weak spot when it comes to English class for me

Ze Frank's video basically says that us teens need to focus on larger things, rather than petty little issues. It also says that parents need to be more patient! I agree with that, i think i tend to get REALLY upset over little things, but when big issues happen i don't really care about them for some reason! I think that it is very important that EQ is forced upon not just teens but everyone, because it honestly seems way more needed then IQ.

Personally, i think that the biggest idea from all of the works that we have read in English 11 is something along the lines of "keep the faith". In each work, the protagonist(s) are faced with an issue that they must fight to overcome. In order to fight and overcome these issues they just need one thing.. faith! Some characters do a good job and having the faith, and they succeed... while others don't do so well. For example, in Araby, the boy has so much faith that he will get the girl, and in the end he doesn't. while in 5 characters in search of an exit, they all try to get out and keep the faith that they will get out, and then they end up getting out. Just have faith!

Final Exam: (1 of 4) The Overcoat by Gogol - 97 views

The Overcoat Nikolai Gogol Akaky Akakievich

Gogol does a very good job of showing the value of the material things and not the actual person and the depth and character that they have. Unfortunately, that is the wrong thing to show. The protagonist, Akakiy Akakievitch cares way too much about what people think of him, instead of his own personal virtues. This story does a good job at showing a moral of how there should not be a void or barrier between the rich and the poor.

My first crush was on a boy named Tyler brewster, who now goes by his stage name Demetri Bolton. I started crushing on tyler in the third grade. we would always go on the swings at recess and play at eachothers house after school for play dates and such. Tyler was different than most boys. When we would have play dates at his house we would play with his pink wooden doll house. Well i guess that was sort of a foreshadow because he now rocks skinny jeans and high heels every day, has been dating his boyfriend for two years now, and changed his name to a stage name. Pretty embarassing on my part.

This quote says a lot of general things, like the world isnt fair, you cant always reach success, etc. Personally i think there is a deeper meaning to it deep down. I think that this quote is saying there is not perfection. No body's perfect. imperfection is perfection. He feels like why out of all the people qas he chosen? because he doesnt feel like hes the best? well that is exactly why he was chosen.

it is significant because the story is sort of based on the coat of arms. someone said that its sort of like karma, and i would agree with that. Each thing in the story represent part of the coat of arms.

Although the girls didnt see him quit his job, he still followed through with it so that he wouldnt look dumb. he did this because he didnt want to end up like lennie.

He is experiencing feelings just like we do when we have crushes. he is feeling jealous because she is talking to two other guys when he sees her. He is now going to be broken hearted because he never got to give the gift to her, fall in love with her, etc.
