I really enjoyed reading this article because it ties in with food waste what we have been taking about. For an instance I thought they were the same back to going "green" it is good to learn the difference to comprehend both. This is also very helpful for those of us who would like to help but do not know how.
  •
To achieve a sustainable society then food waste must be recycled as opposed to being sent to landfill sites around the country. We all know the problems that our planet is suffering through global warming that is partly aided by the greenhouse gasses that are produced when food waste is sent to landfill and the ensuing fluctuations in temperature that is suffered around the globe.
  •
I really like your comment Norma i Read the same thing but saw it in a different light. But then after reading about your going green comment i thought about how ironic it is that color is being considered a sustainability method. It is great when you can see something from someone else point of view and get more from something you already agreed with.

(Sent original article to wrong ENG 102 group) Ever thought as a college student you could make a difference? Well a group of Students from Pomona's College started to try to save food from being tossed out. They would package it and send it to a shelter to help those in need. 3.7 million adults struggle to put food on the table, but 1.5 million tons of food get wasted and thrown away. Now there is something wrong with that. Donating food to the need has become a solution, but what if your willingness to help out gets turned down? One person turned donation food donations because the fear of rotten food and health code. How are we suppose to help food waste if others are squashing our solutions?

How to wage war on food waste - 0 views

  •
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that Americans waste 30 percent of all edible food produced, bought, and sold in this country, although it acknowledges that this figure is probably low.Part of the problem is the heterogeneous nature of food waste -there is no single culprit, just many diffuse sources that add up to a slow and steady bleed on the economy and the environment. This site tells us what we already know, just some random helpful information in there that is fun and good to know.
  •
Everyone is responsible for food being wasted the biggest contributors being cafeteria's, restaurants, and grocery stores. The first steps to wage war on food waste are to buy conservatively and make just enough instead of to much. Also to embrace the three R's reduce, reuse, and recycle.
