Want to let students explore with real data then welcome to FRED® (Federal Reserve Economic Data), a database of 25,176 U.S. economic time series. With FRED® you can download data in Microsoft Excel and text formats and view charts of data series. Students can explore data, create models & hypothesis, and test their models as the year progresses. If their models aren't working they can go back to their original data set and make changes based on what they've learned and see how those predictions work on new data. The best part is the variety of data that is available. We plan to continually improve FRED® and encourage you to send feedback through our contact form.

Created by 5th Cell (creators of Drawn to Life), this title turns writing into objects, drawing from a database of "tens of thousands" of items. You type them in with the stylus, to solve problems. It could be a promising writing activity because it illustrates word meanings, instantly. Why learn to write? To play ScribbleNauts.

A website that marshall K uses to aggregate and compile information. I want to understand how he uses it. Here are many of the public database this service aggregates. This is delving more deeply into data and something that our students have to get to. Past just the surface of "a verbatim Google search" into making meaning of the data. It looks like this is an important tool for researchers - particularly those researching things pertaining to technology and the ecosystems that are emerging in so many places.
