Great question: what is our core mission?

So if we view our resource in education and schools as being information, we will find ourselves more and more as one option among many. So I think that we need to ask the question: what is our core mission? What can we offer in classrooms and schools that can be gained nowhere else? What makes our spaces different?

Florida takes a huge step forward (or backwards?) in virtual ed.

A new law requires every district to set up an online school for grades K-8th grade. I'm just curious about a few things -- why the arbitrary selection of ages? I'm not sure that virtual education is a good idea for k, 1, 2 -- would need to be convinced. To me, it has great application for high school -- but yet high school isn't part of it. Many virtual classes I've seen are NOT well constructed and the online teachers aren't accessible. The teacher must be there while teachers are learning. Just have a lot of ideas here but questions too!

At its best, Twitter is a place to share a resource, a link to a new blog post, or an insight, and even a place to have a little fun. It's a place that could be about learning. At its very worst, Twitter is a self-indulgent exercise in self-promotion and pettiness.

Forget whining about access, never mind the slow speed of change, get over the obstacles! Go after meaningful results. Engage and empower students. Be a leader and a role model.

This lets you create an account to make ipod tutorials. This is free and there are several educational videos already there including this mogo on how to use mogo from the 18th ITSC 07 (Innovative Technology Schools Conference). Education is moving to ipods and cell phones -- it is the next major progression. Perhaps 1:1 ipod projects are next?

More ability to use handheld devices is emerging with this website that lets you create tutorials and information via ipod.

How about cutting and pasting the most meaningful mini-exchanges? Or simply get a screen-shot of them (whatever is faster for you) and create a page here for those who can/want to discuss together. Or perhaps people want to use it as inspiration to write reflections in their own blogs when time permits. Please point us to those links!
