FROM THE ABOUT PAGE... the real purpose of this exercise is to alleviate our natural tendency to edit everything-and learn to flow. an analogy would be a film camera: when a film is shot, the camera just rolls and captures everything-good and bad. when all the shooting is complete, the raw film is edited into a cohesive piece. the camera operator doesn't keep stopping the camera and rewinding and editing on-the-fly-the camera just rolls. if it were to stop, some of the best performances and spontaneous moments might be missed. so: be the camera. well, that's a stupid saying, but you get the idea. in writing-just flow. go back later and edit. Go write.

  • t’s possible (and often happens) to spend an entire teaching career having no real contact with what’s happening in businesses and organizations outside of academia, making it more difficult for teachers to connect what happens in their classrooms to the real world.

and too...in higher ed. Those training today's teachers have often been out of the classroom for a very long time. Many colleges resist hiring adjunts that are actually working in the field and putting these best research based practices into use

  • I really enjoy my Twitter relationships

The difference is you do have twitter RELATIONSHIPS and that is key. These are easy to develop with manageble followings ...when there are thousands of people "following you" like in the case of jakes, richardson...they don't need to follow back all the folks...because they do a good job of engaging in the conversation. without having to develop "relationships" with thousands. It would be impossible and would leave them as Shareski said, only constantly snacking
  • his post was about what I considered to be the abuse of Twitter by certain individuals, and the second grade playground mentality of who follows who, and who is in this group, who is in that group, etc. Because you know what, its there. It is, and its not pretty.

I actually think this is a GOOD analogy. I have seen the ....can someone who follows @somebody please tell them.... because they don't follow me...posts...

Cool summary of an article by Liz B. Davis -- Liz took the article and extracted the most valuable bits to her using google Docs. This methodology is fascinating, but even moreso the fact we may all begin doing this together with Diigo.
