'Generation V' Defies Traditional Demographics - 8 views

  • Generation V is not defined by age, gender, social class or geography. Instead, it is based on achievement, accomplishments and an increasing preference for the use of digital media channels to discover information, build knowledge and share insights.
  • Findings about these Generation V segments: Up to 3% will be creators, providing original content. They can be advocates that promote products and services. Between 3% and 10% will be contributors who add to the conversation, but don’t initiate it. They can recommend products and services as customers move through a buying process, looking for purchasing advice. Between 10% and 20% will be opportunists, who can further contributions regarding purchasing decisions. Opportunists can add value to a conversation that’s taking place while walking through a considered purchase. Approximately 80% will be lurkers, essentially spectators, who reap the rewards of online community input but absorb only what is being communicated. They can still implicitly contribute and indirectly validate value from the rest of the community. All users start out as lurkers.

Cramberry: Studying Made Easy - 0 views

  •
How Cramberry Works Using Cramberry to study is simple. First, you create a blank "set" of flashcards. Cramberry will prompt you to give your set a name. All of your flashcards are stored in sets. Once you've created a blank set, Cramberry will help you add cards to the set. Adding cards with Cramberry is as simple as it is with traditional flashcards: just type in the text you want on the front and back of the card, and click on "add another card" to add another card to the set. Once you're satisfied with the amount of cards you have in your new set, click "finish". Once you've set up one or more sets with the cards you want to study, actually learning them is simple. Click the title of the set from the home screen, and you're off! Cramberry will present you with the front of a random card. Try to guess what is on the back of that card, and then click on the button to find out if your guess was correct. If it was, click "correct". If not, click "incorrect". As you continue studying, Cramberry will keep track of which cards you know, and help you learn the ones you don't.

PicLens :: Firefox Add-ons - 0 views

Super cool add in for the new Firefox. Piclens gives you a 3 d way to browse videos and pictures on the web and is very very cool. Just remember that if you upgrade to firefox3 that some add ins won't work at the beginning. Firefox 3 has just entered public release which is usually about the time it has enough stability and support to make me happy.

Why your 8-year-old should be coding | VentureBeat - 4 views

  •
I totally agree, students should learn programming and be exposed to it. I love Kevin Jarrett's STEM lab and what he's doing. Read this and discuss. It doesn't matter if you don't know how to code or if your teachers are afraid they are going to have to learn. Make it a priority. If you want to add volleyball, you find someone to coach it. If you want to add programming, find someone to teach it, it is that simple. I think this model of "everyone integrates" is great b/c everyone SHOULD integrate but to think or fantasize that technology integration is the same as teaching Computer Science is to think that a kind who can skate is ready to drive a car - not even in the same ballpark.

6 Steps to Add Voice Comments to Google Docs ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning - 1 views

  •
Want to add voice comments to your Google Doc. Here's how from the educator's technology blog. Many students say that this helps them feel more connected to teachers. Think about it, if they struggle with writing, they might struggle with reading and this is the kind of differentiation that can really help some kids.

Amazon Confirms Student Version Of Kindle - 0 views

  •
Student version of Kindle is confirmed for students. Oh so cool. My students really like the idea of a Kindle and I'm wanting to get a hold of one. They will HAVE to make it easier to add all blogs to the information on a Kindle -- I'll want their Google calendar and my class blog to download automatically. It is too hard to add info to the Kindle now unless you publish a book, and then it is easier. Need an ebook of some kind.

MyStudiyo.com - Create a quiz, embed it on your site or blog, all in just 5 minutes! - 0 views

What an amazing tool! Currently there are two flavors of quizzed "promotional" and " "add on" promotional allows you to create a standard online "quiz" well if you call standard being able to embed audio, video, pictures, and text! The "Addon" quiz lets participants take the quiz and then add more questions if they want? Classroom thoughts abound in my head! Would love to get some traffic with this group on creating an ed version that would allow you to sign up your kids and moderate the questions they submit...

Magic Squares - 2 views

"This is a maths resource that can be used to challenge pupils to complete a magic square, using only the numbers provided, to make sure that each row, column and diagonal all add up to the focused magic number. The resource provided challenges students to add up to 9, 12, 15 & 18, and could be used as a homework challenge, an additional classroom activity, or as a main activity within a maths lesson. Challenge pupils to work on two different methods for each magic number. This activity could be adapted with larger number, and other mathematic operations"
