  •
Classroom 2.0 is a social network for educators who are interested in the use of Web 2.0 or collaborative technologies in the classroom. I will use it for them to review each feature of this website and to consider or brainstorm what things they would like to incorporate into their own. It is a great source of ideas and a great place to collaborate with teachers of all levels.

Visual Understanding Environment - Download - 0 views

  •
    * Name of the site: Virtual Understanding Environment (VUE) * URL: http://vue.tufts.edu/download/index.cfm * Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This is a mind mapping site developed by Tuffs University that is available for the Mac. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): It looks like it is more adaptable that Freemind which I used before and did not like. I haven't built anything yet, but I will use it for a mind map of Web 2.0 functions.

What is Authentic Assessment? (Authentic Assessment Toolbox) - 1 views

  •
    * Name of the site: Authentic Assessment Toolbox * URL: http://jonathan.mueller.faculty.noctrl.edu/toolbox/tasks.htm * Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This is a great site to help teachers develop an authentic assessment for their students. It will be good in the workshop I am developing on Web. 2.0 from the later days when the participants are thinking on what they will develop. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on). This comes from a knowledgeable source and cites Grant Wiggins.

This Web 2.0 tool is a pseudo-moving making tool using JPEG slides to make videos. This tool will come in handy in two respects. The first to make promo videos advertising the presentation. This will give possible attendees the chance to see what the presentations will entail. This would also be a good reminder since the workshop is split into five different presentations. The second way that this tool can be used is basic how to videos. Because the graphics move a little fast on this tool, the how to videos will have to be very brief and taks specific. Jing or Vimeo might be better options for how to videos.

Edu 2.0 provides all the elements of face to face classroom in to a digital classroom. This site can be used in the presentation portion and allows for participation through wiki's, blogs,a and chat rooms. I like this site because it is free, you can pick and choose what you want to set up and have available for participants. It does require participants to sign in and allows you to monitor and track progress.

This portal provides the teacher with the opportunity to create a course with lessons that can become available to students as they are being administered. It also provides the teacher with collaborative tools, opportunity to prepare group work which can be monitored, to prepare a gradebook and many more interesting applications. It is also very easy to use.

Collaborative writing software online with Writeboard. Write, share, revise, compare. - 0 views

  •
Whiteboard is a tool that allows users to collaborate on the creation of documents. One user can create a whiteboard and upload an original piece of text. They can then invite other users to come to that whiteboard to help revise that text. In my workshop in particular, since the assessment activity is the creation of a group lesson plan using one of the Web 2.0 tools I share with them, Whiteboard can be used by participants to collaboratively create the lesson plan.
