Bubbl.us - 3 views

This is an excellent collaborative brainstorming tool for creating a mind map. This could be excellent for PreTraining or for a graphic organizer. Imagine your class having this open while you present key information, and they create their mind map of your concepts.

Bubbl.us http://www.bubbl.us/ Bubbl.us is a free application that allows users to brainstorm and think online using colorful mind maps. While this application is a bit different from Webspiration the concept is the same. If you are looking for a very simple and easier to use program for younger students this might just be your answer! With just a hit on the enter key you can quickly and easily design and create spider mind maps. I believe that Bubbl.us is a website that can absolutely help learners think with more organization and it illustrates how connections can be made between information. Compared to Webspiration Bubbl.us seems a bit elementary to my likings for my high school students, but for someone who is working with the elementary crowd this would be perfect because there are not as many bells and whistles to this program. Even though students are still able to modify colors and change the location of the bubbles.

Online bubble maps that can be used in the planning process for presentations. This tool is user-friendly and will allow teachers to share access with each other throughout the workshop. The sharing feature of this tool will also promote the needed collaboration among the group.

An online mind mapping application which is very user friendly. Throughout the presentation process, this tool will provide opportunities for the instructor and participants to design webs related to covered material. For instance, in my workshop, webs can be used to illustrate various teaching and learning strategies for each special education category visually. This application is somewhat different to navigate than Webspiration, which I have frequently used in the past as well as Inspiration in the classroom. It took a few moments of trial and error to determine where certain element tabs and buttons were, but it also presents graphics which have a more professional appearance.

This is a free site that allows for brainstorming and creating graphic organizers. It automatically arranges bubbles as you type and allows you to manually arrange them. Bubbl can create colorful mind maps online, share and work with friends and embed mind maps in your blog or website.
  •
This site allows you create mind maps. It easily allows you to branch out your ideas. I like this site because it is easy to use, you simply click an existing bubble and it creates a new branch. It is also very easy to change the font and the color of the bubbles.

Mind map creator. Easy to use, free, and has a variety of presentation options.
  •
Bubbl us is a graphic organizer used to organize ideas. As I viewed the site, I thought I could offer this to my students who might be intimidated by the use of graphic organizers on the web. Using this site might reduce the extraneous process because the goal is to organize thoughts not learn a new tool.

The is online mind mapping software whre participants can create a graphic organizer online. Graphic organizers can be shared with friends or saved as a jpeg.

    * Name of the site: Graphic.org * URL: http://www.graphic.org/ * Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This seems to be a great site for teachers to understand different graphic organizer configurations and to be able to download and alter them. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): This site has usable links (those I explored worked, at any rate). It suggests uses and provides critical questions, suggestions for uses, and strategies

Graphic.org is a great site with a multitude of resources for the teacher to access. The site offers an explanation of each type of graphic organizer it list and which area of study would best fit the design.

The Solar System - Astronomy For Kids - KidsAstronomy.com - 0 views

This is one of two sites that I will be using in my Graphic Organizer and Presentation. This site is a compilation of various astronomy resources, games, and presentations for kids. I love it because it has very bright graphics and is easy to navigate. This will be the introduction to the Solar System which will give the students information to use in their authentic assessment. They can view this via my laptop with the LCD Projector and a large screen. Although it will be a visual or graphic, it will also be part of the presentation. The graphic organizer will be the actual tabs that will show pictures of the different planets and then we will click on each planet to view more information which will be needed in the authentic assessment. from Concordia, hundreds of choices, divided into grade level and subject categories, pdf printables, short paragraph on each concept map for application, some are customizeable in highlighted areas of pdf before printing,

This website offers a variety of graphic organizers that can be implemented into the classroom. There are pre-made organizers and blank templates that can be used. These graphic organizers can be implemented in all content areas.
  •
Teacher Vision is a good site to print off graphic organizers that are already created. It allows teachers to focus the type of graphic organizer to the age level of their students. This will be helpful because I am dealing with teachers that teach grade levels K-5 and students' with special needs.

Brainstorming and Mind Mapping Software. Make a Mind Map Online! - Mindomo - 0 views

Assignment, Module 3 - Mindomo.com is a web-based, graphic organizer tool that allows users to manage, plan, track, and prioritize tasks.  Although there is a minimal charge for the premium package and group rates, the basic service is free.  The site allows you to embed videos and photos and add links.  Some advantages of this site are:  users can install Mindomo on your desktop to work offline, and Mindomo recognizes and imports mind map formats from other services.

This website is great for brainstorming alone or with others. You can add videos to your mind maps. Mindomo can be downloaded to your desktop to use offline or your server. The desktop maps you create can be integrated with your online maps.
  •
Mindomo is a mind mapping tool that not only allows users to create a map for a concept, but also allows for collaboration and the addition of multimedia elements. This tool can be used at the end of a workshop to allow participants to share their knowledge with each other or with those who did not attend the workshop through the creation of a mind map. I have not used this particular tool, but it looks to be fairly easy to use. The fact that it allows for the addition of multimedia elements to the mind map makes it even more appealing.
  •
Mindomo (http://www.mindomo.com) is an incredible graphic organization site. This site allows the user to create interactive graphic organizers. They can choose the layout they want, import pictures, and add video or audio clips, hyperlinks and much more to the graphic organizer. This allows the user to create dynamic interactive graphic organizers that demonstrate whatever they are trying to get the learner to learn. The graphic organizers can be saved and shared within the site or embedded into a website for others to view. This site has two levels of service the free component does not allow the user the same privileges as the paid customer such as uploading pictures but with the free component the user is able to still make a interactive dynamic presentation. This site is better than some of its counterparts like Inspiration and even Bubbl.us because it allows the user to embed the graphic organizer into a website or create a slide show presentation of what they are trying to do.

This website provides a tutorial explanation sheet on how to create a graphic organizer in Microsoft Word. Step by step instructions with a visual are provided for viewer. The website is a great way for teachers to become familiar with technology and creating a customized graphic organizer to fit the content needs. Explanations on how to insert shapes and change the color scheme are detailed enough to help the uneducated participant. The visuals add to the explanation of how to create the graphic organizer. The user can see how the screen on Microsoft word should appear; this assists in finding the correct icon for each step.

Spaaze: the online endless desktop / organization tool - 0 views

  •
Spaaze is a free online tool that offers a virtual endless desktop onto which a variety of information containers can be placed. Virtual hotspots can be created for quick maneuvering to critical locations. Also, documents, images, and videos can be linked to or uploaded directly, depending on the type of or degree of service being utilized (free, pay as you go, or subscription). While this is a form of graphic organizer, it does not utilize links between content objects. Rather, like objects are simply placed next to each other somewhere on the virtual desktop. Such items could be considered grouped or arranged in such a manner that would mimic the organization found in most graphic organizers or mind maps. The tool could be useful for students to organize information in a free-form format, which could help foster their organizational skills and develop essential cognitive processing skills. In sum, the tool could be useful for a variety of applications and needs and offers a drag-and-drop method of storage and organization; which could take on unique characteristics per the preferences of each user.

This site allows instructors to create a variety of graphic organizers to fit their instructional goals.  The task seems simple, but the variety may become overwhelming.  However, a graphic organizer allows learners to organize more than just information on a sheet.  It allows them to organize information in their mind.

The graphic organizers provided here are, for the most part, plain in appearance. These will allow students to create their own look to these organizers whenever possible. The files are presented in .pdf format. There are approximately 80 different graphic organizers on this site. I found the options in this site more adaptable to different uses. Plus I prefer some of the editing options in Adobe Acrobat over MS Word and PowerPoint.

Freeology offers a variety of graphic organizer templates that can be printed for use in the classroom. The graphic organizers help students to maintain focus on what is the most important within the content area or topic of study. These organizers allow the learner to organize the information in an easy to read and user friendly method.

  •
What it is: Gliffy is an online diagraming software that provides users with an easy drag-and-drop feature for creating graphic organizers. Multiple themes and templates are available to help get users started, or users may create diagrams from scratch. Why it's better: There are several graphic organizing software available online. However, Gliffy is integrated with Google Drive which allows users to create diagrams from anywhere. In addition, they provide an optional wiki plug-in to make the graphic organizers editable within an individual's or organization's wiki.
