    Web Sites for Creating Multimedia

    Pre-Training
    * www.youtube.com This popular technology can be used as a tool for opening workshops with videos or presentations. This would be effective in hooking the audience into the topic that the workshop is covering. YouTube is well known and can be shared in many different ways.
    * www.worditout.com This online tool creates word clouds out of any text copied and pasted into the text box. This can be effective at determining the prior knowledge of the participants in a workshop. It is also great for opening an activity or an interactive grouping strategy. Finally, it can also be essential for preparing the participants for the important vocabulary of the workshop. The best part about this technology is that is free and anyone can generate word clouds.

    Graphic Organizers
    * www.creatly.com This website allows you to create custom graphic organizers online. The site provides templates or allows the user to create organizers from a blank start. The templates are categorized into types and need-based. Creatly provides a free version, but also offers pay versions that have increased saving space and extra user accounts. The ability to create professional graphic organizers easily made me choose this web site. Not only is making the organizers easy, but they can also be printed or embedded into other websites. I use Wikispaces a lot, so embedding comes in handy.
    * www.cacoo.com Cacoo is very similar to Creatly as it allows for users to create custom graphic organizers. It provides templates or the opportunity to create an organizer from a blank start. Pictures can be uploaded, or the user can select from a wide variety of pictures and graphics from Cacoo. Perhaps the best asset of Cacoo is its ability for users to collaborate in real time with others. Any graphic organizer that is created can be edited simultaneously by multiple users. Cacoo also offers a chat application that can be used in addition to the collaboration

    Presentations
    * www.powtoon.com Powtoon is a presentation application that gives users the opportunity to create rich multimedia presentations that are interesting and creative. The application is easy to use as it employs drag and drop technology. I chose this technology because it gives me the capability to create a dynamic presentation that includes animation, audio, and voice controls. I chose this over others because it also has the capability to upload finished products into Wiki and blogs, as well as the ability to upload to YouTube and TeacherTube. It also provides a video tutorial made from the PowToon technology that demonstrates how to use all of its components.
    * www.empressr.com Empressr is another online application that creates multimedia presentations. This application is much like Prezi, but it seems easier to use and has more capabilities. Empressr is free to anyone that signs up and employs easy to use drag and drop properties. There were other web-based presentation makers, but Empressr seemed more advanced and met my needs.

    Authentic Assessment Activities
    * http://www.literacydesigncollaborative.org/ I included this link because it will be essential for my participants as they create their own LDC module. Teachers will use the module creator to design their LDC unit. This also includes http://modulecreator.com/ModuleCreator/#page=login&step=Login as the actual website used to create the modules for the unit. Both websites require an account to use, but if I were designing this as a real workshop, all of that would be acquired in advance.
    * www.wikispaces.com Wikispaces is a website that allows participants to create and maintain websites devoted to particular topics. It is useful because it provides collaboration opportunities as participants can publish and edit the work of group members. It also provides discussion areas and has updated to include a chat-like feature. I chose this because it would give participants the opportunity to collaborate during the workshop and provide a central hub for developing their own LDC module.
