* Create a Free Website - Jimdo - 1 views

  •
Jimdo allows you to make a free webpage. The homepage includes an instructional video with a brief overview of website creation. Overall the website is very easy to navigate. Jimdo can be used to create a class or teacher webpage. Photos or videos of class activities can be uploaded onto the webpage as well. The table creation tool could allow the teacher to create a class schedule for parents to access online.

very cool way to learn and study vocabulary words.....
  •
This website is very creative and fun. However, I do not think it is appropriate for early childhood education. The vocabulary is way too advanced for this age group. Also, while the pictures and videos are funny many of them are inappropriate for children. It is definitely a website for older, more mature students.

This site is great for young children who are learning to use the computer. On this site there is online coloring, print-and-play activities, and storybook creations. This site is easy to navigate, it's child-friendly, and it's free. Everything on this site is about Dr. Seuss and there are things for parents as well. I really like this site!

Site for creating artwork and images ideally for children ages 3 to 12. Anyone can access and download the application for free from the website (tuxpaint.org). The application has special features to engage children, including sound effects when tools are selected and used, and a cartoon displayed in the corner to give help and hints. The drawing tools that are available for children to use are paint brush, rubber stamp, line tool, shape tool, text tool, special effects (magic) tools, eraser, and undo. Also, teachers and children can easily open, save, and print creations. This program could be used in an early childhood setting to help children work on fine motor skills by using the mouse on the computer. It can also foster creativity because the children are allowed to create whatever they want, however they want, and there is no limit on the amount of pictures that can be created. I would use this program in centers in the early childhood setting so that children could get equal opportunity and assistance, if needed.

Photo Story 3 - 11 views

Photos Story 3 is a way to combine photos, voice recordings, music, and writing . Children can bring their favorite stories to life or create their own. By creating photo stories in the class or at home, these stories can be shared to many.

With Photo Story 3, students, parents, and teachers can create, share, and connect! Simply start by uploading your digital photos and editing them the way you like. Then add your own personal touches such as special effects, transitions, music, and even your own voice narration! Children will love being able to hear their own voices narrate their stories. After you have created your stories, share them with anyone online, by burning a DVD/CD, or watching them on your TV. This is a great way for students to show their creativity! Just download the program onto your computer.

Free, easy, creative tool for the user. Upload photos, add captions, your own voice as narrator, transitions. and music. Clear instructions too. What's not to like?

Photostory is unbelievably user friendly and could be used in any classroom to help a child integrate their outside of school experience inside the classroom. It's a good way to get children to learn about the way that other families live and it brings a sense of community to the classroom when a photostory is shared and everyone knows a little bit more about that individual.
  •
that is a really great idea. That is amazing. Thanks for sharing

I actually downloaded this software recently. It was extremely easy to use and fun to play with. I created a couple of slideshows involving my siblings, and shared with my family via the email and they enjoyed it. I like how easy it is to share and how creative you can get with it. I feel that children could use this with some assistance, but they will be thrilled with the end result. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Dabbleboard: The Whiteboard Reinvented - 3 views

  •
Dabbleboard is an online whiteboard that allows users to visualize, explore, communicate, create, and share their work. Users can chose from two ways of drawing: freehand or computer-recognized shapes. Either way, users can create a multitude of pieces. Dabbleboard can be especially helpful for students. They can create flow charts, organizational charts, or mind maps to process school topics. As well, they can create comic strips, mark on uploaded pictures, or freehand drawings to accompany an original story. There is also a collaborative feature, that allows users to voice and video chate, share with or browse the public library, or send the link of their creation via the web. There are endless possibilities for students to express their creativity using Dabbleboard.

This is a collaborative document creation website mainly used for groups collaborating on mission statements, news articles, press releases, product reviews, petitions, etc. Most documents on this site are related to politics. It would not be appropriate to use in a classroom setting or with children. However, it would be a good tool for parents or teachers to use if they are concerned about a children's product, some type of legislation, or a community issue related to education.

Mr. Picasso Head - 3 views

With this site you can create a face using various types of eyes, noses, lips, ears, eyebrows and hair. Once you have created a face you can manipulate it by scaling it up or down, rotating or flipping it. You also have the option to save your picture and email it to friends and family. Overall, I think this is a good site for children to explore creative technology. My biggest concerned was I could not find a statement on who the target audience was. For this reason be sure to carefully watch children when they are at this site.
  •
I really liked and enjoyed this website! I liked the freedom to personalize the face I was creating. With the editing tools of color and scaling up and down, I was able to create numerous completely different faces. I think this activity could be great for older children and could let them explore all of the options online art sites can offer.
