Discussion and examples for  the usage of narrative film in urban design/planning. I am looking for examples/case of narrative film being used to present urban design/planning. Specifically I am interested in examples, if there are, where stories about some personas'/characters' lives in the proposed urban area are used to illustrate future activities/structures. There are, of course, numerous examples of animations, 3D renderings and "fly over" ariels that display buildings, sometimes showing people. What I am looking for are examples where the persons everyday is used to tell the story of future urban development rather than when people are just part of presenting a building or an area. It is likely that the story is centering the person(s) rather than the area. 

HIGHRISE explores vertical living in the global suburbs. It's multi-year, many-media collaborative documentary experiment at the National Film Board of Canada, directed by Katerina Cizek, produced by Gerry Flahive. Over the years, HIGHRISE will generate many projects, including mixed media, interactive documentaries, mobile productions, live presentations, installations and Films. Collectively, the projects will both shape and realize the HIGHRISE vision: to see how the documentary process can drive and participate in social innovation rather than just to document it; and to help re-invent what it means to be an urban species in the 21st century.

In 2011, Sundance Film Festival created The New Frontier Story Lab, an initiative created to foster the development of a new style of media production. As media began to depart from traditional, linear Films intended for a passive audience, the launch represented an innovative new era in entertainment.

In 1945 the Nazis fled to the moon. In 2018 they are coming back - this is the plot of one of the most exciting movie productions right at the moment, 'Iron Sky'. The Finnish feature-length comedy science fiction film, directed by Timo Vuorensola and produced by Samuli Torssonen, will be in cincemas in 2011. And it is far more than just an ordinary movie production.
