Reading through a number of posts and articles on everything from social television to transmedia in marketing, I think one thing stands out very clearly. Everyone is looking at transmedia from their own angle. This is very natural and exactly as it should be, as everyone have their own area of expertise, everyone have their own skillsets and everyone have their own projects in mind when deliberating using transmedia storytelling methods.
Welcome to Transmedia Talk a new podcast covering all things story. Transmedia Talk is co-hosted by Nick Braccia and Robert Pratten and looks to shed light on the topic of transmedia storytelling with commentary, interviews and tips on how storytelling is moving into the 21st century.
This blog post focuses on the intersection of transmedia and learning. Presented in 4 segments, we will look at how transmedia is revolutionizing media creation and presentation. As modes of human communication continue to change, so too does the concept of audience, and the projects envisioned and produced. Through a case study on Collapsus, an Energy Risk Conspiracy project, I will expose components necessary for building a successful transmedia project, along with the capabilities and influence accessible through employing such processes. Gain access to exclusive storyboards and scripts, behind the scene details, and interactive interviews as WorkBook Project delves deeper into the process of transmedia.
When I started considering different topics for TEDxTransmedia 2011, I always ended up in the same direction: the power of extending transmedia properties to areas beyond simple entertainment, exploring the potentials of a transmedial approach to actively help shape a better future.
Transmedia has the power to create pro-active communities and to connect generations; and with three typical Italian trademarks PASSION, COURAGE and MAGIC, to make the world better. Rome, for its history, is the Italian town that best enfolds these characteristics therefore I considered to hold the event there.
Ich habe lange nachgedacht, worüber ich schreiben möchte und bin immer wieder beim Transmedia Storytelling gelandet: Der Kunst aus medienübergreifend vernetzten Geschichten eine Welt zu schaffen und erlebbar zu machen.
According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, by the end of today the web will fill up with more information than what had existed in entirety prior to 2003. Much of this deluge is being created by ordinary netizens, rather than by corporations. The web has become a raging river filled with tweets, status updates, photos and videos.

Transmedia. HTML5. Interactive storytelling. Mobile documentaries. These are the undeniable trends emerging from the storytelling world, and nonprofit organizations would be wise to take notice and hop on board. It's not just about the stand-alone video anymore-- it's about embedding your message into as many relevant platforms as possible. And if I were to venture a prediction myself, it's that tools like this will raise public awareness-- and public action-- to a whole new level.
HIGHRISE explores vertical living in the global suburbs. It's multi-year, many-media collaborative documentary experiment at the National Film Board of Canada, directed by Katerina Cizek, produced by Gerry Flahive. Over the years, HIGHRISE will generate many projects, including mixed media, interactive documentaries, mobile productions, live presentations, installations and films. Collectively, the projects will both shape and realize the HIGHRISE vision: to see how the documentary process can drive and participate in social innovation rather than just to document it; and to help re-invent what it means to be an urban species in the 21st century.
