This is another very interesting article on the surveillance society.  I really enjoyed this article because it includes many lines that are relatable to everyone and that also help in understanding the issue. This article is very easy to understand and gives a bunch of interesting examples on surveillance and society.

This brief blurb on how media has influenced society is very relevant to teenagers today. It touches on how teens are easily influenced by celebrities and advertisements in media, and how that will easily sway our decision making habits. As well for the general population of all demographics, people are easily swayed by mass mediums - it isn't hard to convince people with an attractive advertisement or commercial, clearly.

This website has 6 great radio clips that you can listen to, all relating to the topics of privacy and surveillance.  The clip of Kevin Haggerty talking about Surveillance Society I found to be particularly helpful and interesting! 

This is an article that I had to read for another one of my classes but I thought it also fit well here. This article speaks about how social media has impacted friendship, community, and social circles and how they have changed from their original meaning to what we know them as today. It touches on how, as a society, our understanding of intimacy has altered, our understanding of ourselves has changed and how our idea of 'knowing someone' has transformed all due to the impacts of social media.

A commentary on the negative effects social media has on people. The article is saying that social media is hinders the way we communicate with others, instead of communicating with a person face to face we are more inclined to do it over other means. It also speaks about other problems social media might have like cyber bullying.

This blog post elaborates upon the possible implications of the continuous technological convergence occurring in society.  He touches on negative issues such as the growing dependence on technology such as cellphones, which have only been around for a number of years.  He also explains positives for advertisers and entrepreneurs such as the ability to reach a global audience at next to no fee.  I thought this article would be relevant because our course similarly reflects upon the impacts of media on our lives as citizens, students and consumers.

This article discusses the pros and cons of the current lifestyle we live in a social-mediated world. People are learning new ways to "speak" with shorter-slanged words, and more concisely; and even using photos to communicate with others (through photo sharing platforms). Users are also over sharing their private lives with the world on social platforms, not realizing that almost anyone can see and read what they are putting out there.

This article discusses and clarifies the ideas of virtual realities. This site also provides a very helpful video on the first page, called "The Internet of Things". The video gives great visuals and examples to help solidify the concepts surrounding virtual realities. Very interesting, hope you like it!

This link is to a website on Mashable.com where there is a very cool YouTube video on augmented reality.  The clip talks about an App called Augment, where you can virtually see an object placed in any environment.  The app takes online shopping to a whole new level.  It is a very interesting video and following the video is a more in depth description of the app. 

New technology is evolving, which can further innovation in our society. However, this presents a challenge for creators to protect their ideas and work. Therefore, copyright laws must be updated for continuous innovation in our world.

This video refers to one of our readings, by Jonah Berger. He talks about why things go viral; the causes of it. The video is very informative , and gives us a different perspective of what Berger has to say, since he engages with an audience and demonstrates some pictures and puts emphasis on text on a PowerPoint slide, unlike his article. I enjoyed watching this clip and was able to understand it better than the article itself.

This video explores the benefits of YouTube and how shows such as Dane Boedigheimer's "Annoying Orange" is extremely successful.

This dynamic and info-packed Infographic highlights how to design for viral growth. The author, Morgan Brown discusses virality, how to make viral designs, and sums its all up in one neat infographic that is compelling, easily embedded into personal websites, and acts as a good reference sheet. A must to keep in mind when designing content for online promotion.

While some trends seem obvious, others are more interesting, such as Slideshare becoming a key influencer. Who knew it was one of the most visited websites in the word? These 14 trends are good to keep in mind when promoting on social media pages. This is a good list to keep in mind for video series promotions.
