It was hard to keep away my oldest daughter, who is 12, so we could finish. Taylor told her teacher what she did and asked if I could bring in my Lap Top to show her. She asked if I would show the whole class as well.

25:18 This is a great point. Students in teachers are in the same boat--no natives here. Although students may know how to navigate these technologies, they rarely know how to use for their own learning, to think critically, and to create meaningfully. Students and teachers become partners in learning. Students help with the navigation the new media--but teachers guide students in meaningful learning to analyze, synthesize, and generalize.

Almost 9 months ago, the College of Wooster president, Grant Cornwell, forwarded my video to a remarkable collection of people who were daring and creative enough to think they could dance it … not just dance to it … but truly dance it.

This little smartpen from livescribe just might revolutionize my note-taking in seminars, discussions, and ethnographic interviews. If you have never seen it before, check out some of the demos on YouTube. In short, it records audio as you write and links what you are writing to the audio (by recording what you write through a small infrared camera near the tip of the pen). When you are done recording you can actually tap the pen anywhere on your page and the pen will play the audio that was recorded at the time you were making that specific pen stroke.

In more detail, he did the following: He created a free wiki using PBworks. For each course, he created a page on the wiki for the next exam. After each lecture, he put aside time to add the relevant notes to his wiki. To do so, he would create a subpage for each topic, and then list the main points, add snippets of sample code, or summarize any other information relevant for the exam. Following the stealth studying philosophy, he would then access his wiki using his iPhone while walking to class and waiting for the lecture to begin, doing quick bursts of review. (PBworks plays nicely with iPhones, making it easy to browse the wiki on the run.)
