  • I am also concerned that two teachers do not feel comfortable using the resources in the library. I will  redouble my efforts to help our faculty see the relevance of information fluency in all subject areas, to try and energize them with the excitement I feel to encourage them to step outside of their teaching comfort zone,  and to continue to help our faculty members feel at ease using the technology and materials in our library.

      25:18 This is a great point. Students in teachers are in the same boat--no natives here. Although students may know how to navigate these technologies, they rarely know how to use for their own learning, to think critically, and to create meaningfully. Students and teachers become partners in learning. Students help with the navigation the new media--but teachers guide students in meaningful learning to analyze, synthesize, and generalize.

Through the continued DEECD iPads 4 Learning trial Evaluation, i am sure that the data we gather from this will certainly give a great insight in to iPads for Learning.
  • Giving students the option to direct their own learning goes a very long way in giving them ownership of the task. It allows them to play to their strengths and their learning styles. This in turn increases engagement and with the massive amount of creative app’s available for students to use, this can only be a positive.

    We have now been involved in the DEECD iPads 4 Learning Trial now for roughly 9 months .. I think that the students involved in the trial are past the iPads being a 'toy' and that the novelty of using these devices has also worn off. Using one of Google's great features, Google Docs, i created a form (survey) for the Yr 6 students to answer.

    This is way cooler than I thought it would be! You input some vocab or spelling words and it creates tests or teaches the words including spelling, and using them in a sentence.

    A superb resource where teachers can sign in and input spelling lists for pupils to learn by playing games. Give pupils the link and they don't need to sign in to use it. Site only recognises US spelling when generating example sentences, but you can input your own easily.
