This is a fascinating study and infographic by the folks over at engineeringdegree.net. They drilled down into some recent studies to unearth some startling data. It focuses on the fact that studies have shown that girls are smarter than boys in many of the STEM subjects but most girls don't end up pursuing careers in those fields.

National Geographic's Map Maker Interactive offers six themes on which users can create custom map displays. Within each theme there are subcategories to choose from. For example, you can select the theme Physical Systems Land then choose volcanic eruptions to display on your map. Map Maker Interactive also provides drawing tool and marker icons that you can place on your map. One drawback to National Geographic's Map Maker Interactive is that your maps cannot be embedded into other sites. But you can download your maps, print them, and share links to them. Overall, the ease of use and the variety of themes makes Map Maker Interactive an excellent alternative to creating maps on Google Earth. In fact, in some ways it's better because you don't have to install anything or register to use Map Maker Interactive. Adding layers to Map Maker Interactive is also more intuitive than adding layers on Google Earth.

TV can prove to be a vital medium to spread any kind of word. This is what recently happened to a new TV program, which was recently launched in Britian. The program was basically meant to highlight the Islamic history. However things didn't go the way it was expected and a new controversy emerged. The controversy is that the Muslims feel , that words have been minced and misinterpreted regarding the Islamic history. All the guns are actually firing at the author of the program. The first to come into action was the Islamic Education and Research Academy. The academy was of the opinion, that Tom Holland had not taken into consideration the actual facts and realities of the Islamic history. These were actually the highlights of the Daily mail. This unlucky program was shown on Channel 4 , just last week. The program had the title "The untold story." The Muslims were shown to have dressed up in the style of Arabian Tribes. The person who was shown as the historian, had adopted the Indiana Jones attire. The author raised the point that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) had not started his tedious struggle of spreading Islam from Makkah. Another aspect, which the author mentioned was with referencing Islamic historical events with the Quran. The author raised a big question and that how prevalent Islam was during the time of Holy Prophet (PBUH)? Twitter was another medium where this park of anger was ignited. Twitter, Muslim users had a massive reaction towards the author of the program. Muslims condemned Holland at the same time of questioning Islam. 550 complaints were raised and were brought under the notice of Channel 4 and Ofcom. These news of arousal against British programs has become quite common. Another program, that came under immense criticism was "Citizen Khan ", which was again accused of misinterpreting Islam.

Moreso than other social media, Twitter embraces an ethic of sharing credit. In fact, the more you recognize the work of others, the more you are engaging with the Twitterverse. It began with the simple RT, or retweet. If you liked what someone wrote or posted, you'd copy the tweet in its entirety, add RT along with his or her @name at the beginning, and post to your followers.

Fawzia Koofi is the first woman to ever become the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament in the history of Afghanistan. The fact that she lived after being left out to die under the sun is a testament to her courage. She would have to prove that courage over and over again as she dodges threats to her life and insults thrown at her just because she is a woman. Only 39 years old in 2014, she hasn't reached the required age to run for the highest seat in the government, so she'd set out to do it 4 years later. Wikipedia revolutionized the rather drab and monotonous presentation of facts by archaic encyclopedias. Rather than limiting the source of information to only come from experts, Jimmy Wales created a community where people can contribute to topics they are passionate about. He could have earned billions but he chose to make Wikipedia free and rely on donations. One of TIME's 100 Most Influential People in the World" in the "Scientists & Thinkers" section, Jimmy proves that something good can be derived from the Internet. Mariano Rivera, Jr. is a very well-known baseball pitcher playing in the Major League Baseball, most famous for becoming a thirteen-time All-Star and five-time World Series champion. A legend who has proven his mettle over and over again, Mariano has established himself as one of the greatest (or possibly the greatest) career leader in saves and games finished in the history of the sport.
